Rising Star Weekly Giveaway #169 and Rise of the Grendel

in #hive-1953702 months ago

Here is my weekly status and giveaway. I also talk about an OST track that I like. Please make sure to read the rules to qualify for the giveaway.

Rise of the Grendel

Rise of the Grendel is an OST that plays in Trials through Daybreak when Van Arkride (the protaganist) dons the Grendel. Mare, the AI residing inside Van's Xipha unit, asks if Van is willing to bear the nightmare, and Van agrees to it saying that his life has been a nightmare for a long time. I find that part kind of interesting and it makes me wonder more about the main character. In any case, this track is probably the best track that I have heard so far in Daybreak. It appears whenever Van uses the Grendel but that only happens in select portions of the story which tends to be the end of the chapters. I am guessing that you can use the Grendel more in the normal story later down the game but I am not sure. This track is pretty much a loop and I feel that I could listen to it quite a bit.

This track reminds me the most about the Grendel. I talked a bit about the main character before but I have always wondered about the past that Van has taken because he talks about his life being a living nightmare. I have some guesses because I did catch a few spoilers mentioning the demon-worshipping cult so I think that might be involved, but I am unsure how it really affected his life and what he went through. As I am only in Chapter 2, I know that the Grendel is quite amazing as it seems so overpowered and that it is linked to the Genesis artifacts. The image is from the wiki page for Grendel.

There is an arranged version of the track, but I'm not fond of it as much. I can see the parts of the song that represent the original but I just prefer the action-type feeling from the original. I do like the mix of different instruments, but it's not enough to say that it's better than the original.

Do you like any of these tracks? If so, why?

Current Status

I played a bit more than last week. No epic or legendary cards from my pack openings.
Unfortunately, my luck sucks and I got 1 more guitar but no drums before the seasonal event ended. I am thinking about selling some guitars and using the returns to buy some drums.

Tips (source)

I think the tips are something every new player should know about. It will help people progress in the game and it hasn't really been shared since surya1adiga stopped his giveaways.

  1. Take music lessons when possible to raise skill and reduce ego.
  2. Having lesson specific instruments helps in receiving more skill from that lesson.
  3. Have pizza box to store any pizza received during mission to reuse later.
  4. Buy cold pizza slice if possible. This gives 1 refill every 24hours. Comes very handy when you are low on energy.
  5. If you have enough of cold pizza slice and pizza box, you will never run out of energy.
  6. If you have more fans than skill and you won't reduce the ego , you can use a storage trailer to store unnecessary cards. Or you can list the card in market for an unreasonably high price.
  7. Ego received for a particular mission increases every time you play it. The ego is reset to base level the next day. So, try to play different missions to control the ego gained.
  8. Keep track of your achievements to unlock in game rewards
  9. Buy storage trailer (only if necessary) to keep the cards that might have a negative effect. Like a card with high fan count resulting in ego.
  10. When earning skill points through music lessons, you can earn more points per lesson if you hold more of specific instrument cards. There seems to be base skill which is rewarded irrespective of the card count and then the skill increases depending on the number of the lesson specific card one has.
  11. Try taking up many smaller missions to fill up pizza boxes and have extra energy to play more rewarding missions. But you need to have pizza boxes for this to work.
