What's this Ego Meter I'm talking about? It's this one here.
What is Ego in Rising Star
Game's Description:
When you have more fans than skill your ego increases. Each mission also increases your ego.
Increased ego reduces the maximum number of Starbits you can earn on missions. Balance your Fans to Skill ratio by taking some music lessons, placing cards in storage or by buying cards with more Skill than Fans.
Ego only takes effect when you have at least 1000 fans (both drunk and permanent) or you reach level 15.
Ego from any single mission type increases exponentially throughout the day and ego gained through missions is permanent. The starting ego value for all mission types is reset each day so you should carry out different mission types to minimise the ego gained.
From what I understand, the Ego % directly affects the minimum and maximum Starbits you can get on a mission.
We will have no problem if our Skill is equal to or higher than number of Fans.
The values below increase Ego since there are more Fans than Skill.
How to Manage Ego
- Get more cards that give Skill.
- Temporarily store your cards that give Fans into Storage Cards.
- Lastly, and I think the best way for me, is to acquire Instrument Cards. There are many articles out there about why this is the best strategy in the long run.
What are Instruments in Rising Star
To see them go to Cards > Your Collection
And these are the Instrument cards. If it is showing a colored card, that means you own that card.
How Do We Use Them to Reduce Ego
Here comes the Music Lessons
Each music lesson has specific criteria to start it, which rewards you with Skill each time. So if you managed to gain more Skill than Fans, then you won't have Ego problems.
TLDR
Now What I Recently Discovered About Music Lessons and Skill Reward
Since I jumped to the game immediately when I joined, I did not bother to read all of the details and FAQs in the game.
It turns out, that each music lesson requires a particular type of Instrument card. Basically for Singing Lessons you'll need Microphone cards; Guitar Lessons need Guitar cards, etc.
It's best that you check them out in the FAQ tab as shown below. However, I'm not sure if this FAQ section is always updated whenever new cards are introduced to the game.
And to increase your Skill Reward on a specific music lesson, you should increase the amount of Luck on that particular type of Instrument card.
For example, for Basic Singing Lesson I can initially get Skill Reward of 9 to 18. This could be higher or lower for you if you already have Microphone cards.
Then I purchased one Microphone card that gives 50 Luck. Now my Skill Reward for Basic Singing Lesson went up to 12 to 23.
It also increased my total Luck.
Total of all luck from four leaf clovers (that last for a limited time) and permanent luck from all your cards. Luck increases the maximum number of drunks you may attract during a mission and is used in lessons to increase the maximum skill earned.
My New Long Term Plan
Asides from getting more Fans, I also plan to get more Instrument cards. I choose Microphones since the Basic Singing Lesson is immediately available at low levels, and I think they are cheaper than other Instruments.
And since my Luck will also rise, then this strategy is best partnered with the Risky Whiskey card. Why? That's for my next blog so click that follow button =)
