Appetite for Destruction is the debut studio album by American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, released on July 21, 1987 by Geffen Records. The album was produced by Mike Clink. In fact, the album initially received little attention and only became a major commercial success the following year after the band toured and received significant airplay with the singles "Welcome to the Jungle", "Sweet Child o' Mine", and "Paradise City".
The album peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200, becoming the seventh best-selling album of all time in the United States, as well as the best-selling debut album. The album Appetite for Destruction has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and is currently the 21st best-selling album worldwide. Additionally, it is currently the 4th best-selling album in the hard rock genre.
Critics were initially ambivalent towards the album, but Appetite for Destruction has received retrospective acclaim and regarded as one of the best albums of all time. Additionally, it was re-released as a remastered box set in 2018 to similar universal acclaim.
Additionally, Appetite for Destruction has received many accolades and according to Acclaimed Music, the album is the 63rd most ranked record on critics' all-time lists.
In 1989, Rolling Stone ranked the album as the 27th best album of the 1980s. And in 2012, it was ranked 62nd on Rolling Stone's updated "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list, and it maintained that rank in the list's 2020 update. In 2001, Q magazine listed the album among "The 50 Heaviest Albums of All Time". Additionally, in 2004, Q magazine named it among the "The Greatest Classic Rock Albums Ever". Also, in 2006, Q magazine placed the album at #10 on its list of "The 40 Best Albums of the '80s". In 2002, Pitchfork ranked the album at number 59 on its list of "The Top 100 Albums of the 1980s". The album was included in the 2006 book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. In 2007, the album was ranked 32nd on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of "The Definitive 200 Albums", developed by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM). In 2012, the Clash inducted the album to its Classic Albums Hall of Fame.

I think the best song on the album is "Welcome To The Jungle". Also, the guitar solo in Sweet Child O' Mine is really great. It hits so hard, it makes you feel like you're incredible and can do anything. Also, the combination of the guitarist's chiming 'circus theme' intro, Izzy's bold open chords and loving-struck poetry, is like musical alchemy with pure sunshine.
