You're right. It's been 45 years since "Video Killed the Radio Star" took the music industry by storm. Despite everything, it is not entirely true that success belongs exclusively to The Buggles. That is the merit of success.

It all started a long time ago, when Bruce Wooley and his band were preparing a new album. The album English Garden was released on LP (vinyl and cassette) by Bruce Wooley & The Camera Club in 1979 and included the first released version of the Canadian hit "Kiled the Radio Star" on the EPIC/CBS label. So the song started to take shape a few years ago, around 1977 (45) before its release.

Bruce left the Camera Club project and joined The Buggles, covering his own songs such as Video Killed the Radio Star and Clean Clean. As well as filtering through electronic production with the help of bandmates Jeff Downes and Trevor Horne. Woolley and Horne met in the band Hammersmith Odeon and had known each other for many years, both using it as a means to work with other musicians. Horne and Downes knew each other through the singer's successful collaboration with Tina Charles on I Love To Love.

This is the big question. Do you write a song hoping it's a hit or do you write it and then try your luck?

Success doesn't come overnight, but Bruce Woolley thought it was a good song and could be a big hit, so he decided it would be a good introduction even though it was already released. His new band The Buggles. Confidence is one factor, but there were many other factors that positively contributed to the song's three or four years of world touring before it became a pop culture icon. This song is licensed, so anyone who requests it can cover it. In the past, if a song was successful, it was covered in another language. This increased the popularity of the song and generated significant income.
