[Toasted Tangerine] Tester Update #2

What's up my fellow Cannabis Lovers and Enthusiasts!? It's time to welcome you all back to another edition of:

png_20221201_140116_0000.png

After a small hiatus due to some personal business opportunities, I'm finally back with another "After Hours" Update! Specifically, solely about the [Toasted Tangerine F2] Feminized Autoflowering Tester Beans created by @bifbeans Breeder "Macronut"!

In the last update, we had moved all of our babies into the new(ish) tent under a 600w Metal Halide Bulb, and I was attempting to find a proper distance from the canopy! After a lot of back and forth, I decided to go ahead and keep it at around head height - right about 5 and a half feet or maybe a little more!

20221201_135530_0000.png

Picking right back up on December 6th, I went ahead and gave both of these babies three cups worth of the 10mL per gallon solution of the Fox Farms Grow Big Liquid Nutrients, being careful to not feed them too much or overwater them!

20221202_054902_0000.png

The amount of growth these babies have made in such a short amount of time is truly outstanding to witness, and if you've never grown autos, I definitely recommend trying at least once to witness it for yourself!

20221202_054902_0000.png

Since the buckets were pretty well dry on December 7th, I gave them another two cups worth of 10mL solution, to attempt to get them into full nutrient feedings! I'm facing my feeding schedule on the weight of the buckets themselves, and not on how dry the soil is itself!

IMG_20221208_000947251_HDR.jpg

I decided to go ahead and attempt to top my plants for the first time; well, one of them at least! Since the smaller of the two (which I call TT1) is still pretty small, I went ahead and let this baby go all natural!

IMG_20221208_001017587_HDR.jpg

However, the other [Toasted Tangerine] tester (which I call TT2) was stretching out really well underneath the 600w light and grew up to the 5th node, so I went ahead and pinched off the top with my fingers and hoped for the best!

IMG_20221208_001037742.jpg

20221202_054902_0000.png

I gave them both a drink of water on December 9th, just that way they didn't get over nuted on the last two feedings, and also to try to follow the Fox Farm feeding schedule, which alternates between nutrients and water!

IMG_20221209_022955434_HDR.jpg

I only gave the TT1 plant 2 cups of water, but I ended up giving the TT2 plant just a little more, right around 2 1/4 cups of water!

IMG_20221209_022932996_HDR.jpg

IMG_20221209_022923167.jpg

20221202_054902_0000.png

When I checked on the plants on the 14th, I noticed that the TT2 plant started showing heavy stigma growth on the pistils, only 21 days after popping from the soil! I also started to notice a very stinky, citrus-like diesel smell coming from TT1, although there were no signs of stigmas or pistils!

IMG_20221215_111039708.jpg

Since the buckets were getting a little light again I went ahead and gave the TT1 plant 2 cups of the 10mL solution of Grow Big and diluted it with another 1 cup water!

IMG_20221215_110724030_HDR.jpg

IMG_20221215_110734870.jpg

I only gave 2 cups worth of the same 10mL solution, and while I know I'll eventually have to bump up the amount I feed these plants, they seem to be doing well on their current feeding schedule for the time being!

IMG_20221215_110925233.jpg

IMG_20221215_110741379_HDR.jpg

20221202_054902_0000.png

Since the plants have gotten so much bigger I decided it's time to go ahead and up the amount of nutrients that I give them per feeding! So, on December 16th, I gave the TT1 plant 2 cups worth of a 15mL per gallon solution of Grow Big; which was increased from last dosage by 5 mL per gallon.

IMG_20221216_122052915_HDR.jpg

I also ended up giving the TT2 plant 4 cups worth of the same 15mL solution; not only increasing the amount of nutrients but also increasing the total amount of water during the feeding! I really only did this because of how well it has been responding to the feedings so far, and it's almost twice as big!

IMG_20221216_122058210_HDR.jpg

20221202_054902_0000.png

There was a lot starting to happen around the house, but I noticed on the 19th that the buckets for these girls were getting extremely light! So, I gave the TT1 plant a little less than 1/2 gallon worth of the 15mL Grow Big solution! This was a huge jump, but it looked liked this specific plant was starting to suffer from deficiencies!

IMG_20221217_222739236_HDR.jpg

As for the TT2 plant, I went ahead and gave her 1/2 gallon worth of the 15mL Grow Big solution! This one is definitely getting a lot bigger, and looks really healthy in my opinion.

I hope that the jump in water wasn't too much, but I also figured that it may just take a few more days for them to dry out, and with Christmas coming up quick, I knew I wouldn't be able to spend as much time in the tent as I wanted!

IMG_20221217_222812261_HDR.jpg

After a discussion with @bifbeans breeder Macronut, he had informed me that he fed nutrients to his AutoFlowering plants during every feeding, so I decided to mimic his methods in an attempt to see how the plants responded!

20221202_054902_0000.png

On December 21st, I only sprinkled The leftovers of my nutrient solution because the soil still looked pretty moist. The TT2 plant seems to be sucking up all the moisture in it's bucket so I gave it another 1/2 gallon worth of a 10mL solution of Fox Farms Tiger Bloom Liquid Nutrients, mixed with a little bit of the 15mL Grow Big solution!

Since our plants are starting to show signs of flower, I went ahead and decided so start using a flowering nutrient as well! Keep in mind it's only been 33 days since they popped from the soil! I honestly can't believe how quickly AutoFlowering plants grow, and how cool it is to watch them do their thing!!

20221202_054902_0000.png

But, sadly, we'll go ahead and end this post on December 23rd, which is when I switched to the 1000w HPS bulb and raised it to around 6 foot in height or so, giving the plants an early Christmas present!

IMG_20221224_092400586_HDR.jpgIMG_20221224_092417562_HDR.jpg

The smaller TT1 plant looks like it's starting to fill out a little bit more finally, although, it still looks like it's suffering from a deficiency of some sort! Hopefully I can get this figured out soon!

IMG_20221224_120610834_HDR.jpg

The TT2 plant is still looking good, and it has more than doubled in height since I topped it! Was definitely boosts my confidence a little bit in regards to topping so hopefully on the next run I'll be able to get them mainlined or either topped a few more times!

IMG_20221224_120624015_HDR.jpg

20221202_054902_0000.png

Also, I know that everyone had more important things going on, including myself! 🤣 However, since @canna-curate was the only person to vote what would happen to the Lemon Kush Feminized plant from ISC, it looks like I will be attempting to take cuttings for clones before switching it into Flower! Thank you for the awesome suggestion!! 💚 (Guess I need to start doing some more research too!)

fresh is best

Especially when it's high quality genetics, and not random bag seeds 🤣 although, random bag seeds can turn out to be pretty damn good too!

Looking great bro!
Your progress is shockingly impressive, and it's clear that you put every ounce of love and dedication into what you are doing.
You certainly have a special connection with those plants, I can't wait to see the end result!
Any deficiencies are minimal, and at first glance It's hard to diagnose. Maybe it's nitrogen or magnesium, but that's only a guess from my vantage point, the plant is still doing really good and it wouldn't surprise me if you've already figured it out lol :D

Keep up the great work brother, and happy new year to you and your loved ones!

Thanks brother!

And thank you for those kind words! I do truly enjoy growing, and watching them grow, and I do love every part of the process! It's definitely been fun with these AutoFlowers, and I really hope I can get a good system in place for future Auto grows!!

I was thinking Nitrogen myself, Magnesium came to mind, but I was also worried about Zinc as well. I did a little research and found out that a lack of Zinc could cause the roots to not fully absorb the nutrients from the soil, which could be a root issue of a Nitrogen deficiency!

But, for now, I'm going to continue to monitor it pretty closely, and start making small changes to that plants particular feeding schedule!

I hope you had a happy New Years, and that this new year is filled with positivity and success for us all! 💚

Looking good homie. Autos are a lot of fun to grow. Its crazy how fast they go sometimes. One of the hardest parts of growing autos is knowing when the best time to harvest is because its harder to know how long they have been in flower compared to photos when you control when they start the next stages. It will be cool to see your plants fatten up over the next couple weeks.

Thanks bro! And yes they are, I'm really enjoying them!

They do grow so fast it's crazy! And yes, that will be a little bit of an issue for me especially on this run, just because I'm still in the initial learning curve of timing on an auto!

Finding a good timing for everything you do is definitely essential, that's for sure! I for one really wish I would has started training them as soon as I topped them, but I was so worried about stressing them out too much! But, I've also found that these particular plants respond quite well to the stress!

I honestly couldn't believe how fast it doubled in size after topping it, it's truly outstanding how these plants work!

YOur growing has improved lightyears ahead from those first ones! Nice work bro

Thank you so much for those kind words bro!

I know I still have so much to learn, but I am definitely getting more comfortable with what I'm doing, and more and more confident with everything as well.

I also think that plays a part in your plants health as well! Like when you are more confident in your abilities and more comfortable with what you're doing with your plants, they pick up on that positivity of you doing your thing and knowing your gonna help the plants reach their full potential!

Definitely one thing I need to practice and get more comfortable with is defoliation, and I definitely need to attempt taking cuttings from my photoperiods to get that experience under my belt!
