WELCOME TO AFRI-TUNES COMMUNITY
Do well to subscribe to our community to share and enjoy your quality African Tunes.
On March 11th, 2022, we began a project to celebrate the different musical genres and styles that fall under the niche of African music.
After observing the sheer volume of exquisite musical entries in the numerous musical communities on Hive, including the @music-community and @hiveopenmic community, we felt the need to establish this as a hub where everyone is welcome to share and enjoy music under this unique musical niche.
This project, which we named AFRI-TUNES, will be one year on Hive in three weeks’ time.
The journey has, in fact, been filled with a variety of obstacles, from the workload associated with managing a Hive Community to the inability to support high-quality niche content in the community and other Communities on Hive.
But despite all the obstacles, we persevered in our effort to accomplish our objectives and make our little contribution to the Hive community.
Truly, we are grateful and honored to have @ecency, @leogrowth, @stickupboys, and the Reggaejahm community (@dmilliz) support and sponsor our weekly event at this time.
We have also created a Curation Trail to assist in promoting and curating top-notch African music across Hive's musical communities, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who graciously support and follow this curation trail.
As a result, we are encouraged and inspired to celebrate this fantastic year and achievement on Hive with some ideas that the team and community have been contemplating for a few weeks.
IDEAS FOR AFRI-TUNES CELEBRATION
We all love celebrations, right?
Yeeeeeeeeees!
Well, we made the decision to deviate from our usual “contest-only” style of celebration, and we started thinking of creative ways to offer something priceless to our cherished members and the Hive Community. As a result, the ideas that are discussed below were created.
AFRI-TUNES BRANDED T-SHIRT AND HIVE MARKETING
We want to design a T-shirt that would both celebrate this amazing community on Hive and serve as a way to market Hive.
Content of the T-Shirt
The front view of the T-Shirt will contain:
- Afri-tunes Logo at the center
- Afri-tunes and the tagline (Afri-tunes: Celebrating African Tunes on Hive)
- Hive Logo by the left side
- A QR code which directs you to Ecency signup page by the right side
The Back view of the T-Shirt will contain:
- Hive username (@afri-tunes)
Celebration Plans with the T-Shirt
We want as many people as possible to participate in this celebration, including those who enjoy all musical genres that are categorized under African tunes and those who enjoy the African tunes sung in all musical communities on Hive.
We intend to support the production of this branded T-Shirt for 15 of our devoted community members who reside in various states in Nigeria and Ghana. We'd love to design and ship the shirts to some of our wonderful supporters who live on other continents, but we are aware that shipping such items is expensive. However, we are aware that the 15 pieces produced will not be sufficient for all of our wonderful supporters, so we urge everyone who is interested to support us by creating a piece of this T-Shirt. In order to make it easier for everyone who wants to print their own T-shirt, we have created a downloadable file. (We can also create the back view with your unique Hive username if you request under this post or in our discord server).

The 52nd week of the Afri-tunes event will take place from March 3rd to March 9th, and we encourage everyone to create a post featuring lovely images of this lovely T-shirt or a musical video wearing this lovely T-shirt. (More information on this is available in the Contest Section.)
Marketing Plans with the T-Shirt
Recall, 17 days ago, @acidyo made a call-to-action post asking for creative individuals to participate in the Hive Business Card Contest to design Hive business cards with QR codes attached, which will direct anyone scanning them to the relevant Hive signup page and discord community.
As a result, we made the decision to put this into practice and incorporate it into our plans, making us one of the first projects to implement this amazing concept.
When the QR code embedded in our T-Shirt is scanned, it directs you to the signup page in Ecency, where @afri-tunes is the referrer.
Ecency (@melinda010100) has provided the Afri-tunes community with a lot of encouragement and support by sponsoring our weekly contest. As a result, this is a fantastic way to both show our support for the ecency project and to onboard users to Hive on-the-go via ecency.
AFRI-TUNES CONTEST FOR WEEK 52
Every week, we hold a contest in which we reward several members based on their best musical submissions, community participation, and participation in Afri-tunes Leothreads threads. There won't be an exception in week 52.
For the celebration on Afri-tunes week 52, we will accept entries in the following two categories:
- Music video entry: Everyone is invited to perform a cover song or an original composition on any musical genre inspired by African music or that is connected to African music.
- Article: For those who are not musicians or singers, we also invite you to participate in this celebration by contributing a written piece on any of the following prompts:
- Your best African songs selection
- Your thoughts about African tunes on various Musical Communities on Hive
- Your hope, plans or ideas for Afri-tunes community
- ...feel free to write about anything related to African TUNES – inspirational, comedy, motivational or fictional.
We encourage everyone to turn up in a spectacular way with these amazing T-Shirts:
- Those who will make video content can wear this T-Shirt as they sing or play their musical instruments
- Those who write articles can attach images posing with this beautiful T-Shirt
- However, with or without the T-Shirt, feel free to make your video or written content.
- You are allowed to make only one post for the week: either written on Video content.
There will be reward for the best and second-best entries in both categories; reward for winners of the Engagement race; and Leothreads engagement reward. This will be communicated to everyone in due time.
GUITAR ACADEMY SPONSORSHIP
Finally, as a musical community on Hive, we also feel the obligation to make a musical impact on some of our dedicated community members. We therefore intend to provide two of our community subscribers with scholarships if they are interested in learning guitar professionally or raising their levels of proficiency.
The Package
- We will offer a 3-month scholarship plan for those who will be selected
- We will also offer little monthly allowance for data subscription to assist and motivate them
Thus, in order to ensure that selected users value this sponsorship, we would select those who:
- Show interest by commenting here or in our discord server
- Have earlier shown to be interested in playing guitar or progressing in their guitar level
- Have guitar readily available to them
- Are subscribers of Afri-tunes community
Those selected will be announced when we publish the compilation post of week 52; between March 11 – 13.
The Platform
The Guitar Learning Platform is Spicy Guitar Academy, and it was founded by one of the best guitarists in Nigeria, who is also a top recording guitarist in Africa (OC Omofuma - Spicy Jazzy).
It is an online academy (or a school) where you can learn guitar at your convenience with over four hundred of step-by-step lessons set to take you to the Pro level. The platform is highly equipped with resources and great opportunity for the tutors to guide all the learners individually, respond to questions and assignments, as well as make you improve and be unique in your guitar journey.
Our objective is to motivate the chosen individuals to advance in their guitar playing, and we anticipate that this will have a beneficial effect on the musical content they contribute to Hive.
We hope to eventually onboard this fantastic academy on Hive and urge the academy to accept HBD as a form of payment.

It is our greatest desire to make this one-year celebration an iconic one for Afri-tunes community and the Hive community, and we believe that the plans and ideas of this celebration can enable us achieve this little goal of ours.
