Hello Afritunes community! I'm excited to share my entry for this week's music competition. As a music student at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. I'm proud to perform a traditional African style of music that resonates with my roots. "Ogeñe Music" from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. This genre has a special place in my heart, and I'm excited to share its beauty with you.
Last Friday, my African instrumental group and I had an amazing time rehearsing "Ogeñe Music" during our African ensemble rehearsals. We used a variety of African instruments to bring this unique rhytm to life, including the Abang (Pot drum), Ogeñe (Iron bells), Ibid (Skin or membrane drum), Horn, and Metal gong. The energy and togetherness during our rehearsal were electric, and I can't wait to share that with you all.
What inspires me about "Ogeñe Music" is its improvisational nature and the way it makes me feel connected to my heritage. African traditional music has always been close to my heart, and "Ogeñe Music", in particular, has a special place. The way the metal gongs and drums come together to create a lively rhytm is captivating. It's a sound that echoes the heartbeat of Africa, and I feel honoured to be able to share it with you all.
Through this performance, I aim to share the beauty of "Ogeñe Music" with the Afritunes community and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Africa. I hope you enjoy my rendition of this traditional style, and I look forward to your feedback and support!
Let's come together to appreciate the rich musical heritage of our continent and keep the spirit of African music alive. Thank you for listening, and let the rhythm move you!
feel free to dance 🥰😊
