Hello everyone on Afri-tunes music community. It's a beautiful time and season as the weather is gradually moving from heat to cold.
A big welcome to the 121st week, I remain mamab.
Today I will be sharing with you a Hausa song from Northern Nigeria. I think I sang quite a number of songs in Hausa Language in this community. So, the song is titled "Lokaci yayi" which means it is time. I knew the song since my secondary school days. I remember vividly I was assigned to learn the song and take the lead during our choir presentation. I tried to remember the song as much as I can so I can do a cover. It's unfortunate I never knew who sang it, I just knew it was a lady. I even went online and searched but there was no clue to the song.
The song is a wake up call to Christians to wake up from their sleep because there is work to be done. The devil is enjoying whenever believers are slack in there walk with God. May God grant us grace to remain at alert so we won't be taken unaware.
The lyrics are handwritten
Lokaci fa yayi
(It is time)
Da zamu falka daga barci
(For us to wake up from sleep)
Lokaci fa yayi
(It is time)
Da zamu falka daga barci
(For us to wake up from sleep)
Yan'uwa na
(My brethren)
Masubi gari ya waye
(Christians it is daybreak)
Amma mun kwanta muna barci
(But we are lying down and sleeping)
Masubi gari ya waye
(Christians it is daybreak)
Amma mun kwanta muna barci
(But we are lying down and sleeping)
Aiki na jiran mu
(Work is waiting for us)
Don menene muna barci
(Why are we asleep)
Aiki na jiran mu
(Work is waiting for us)
Don menene muna barci
(Why are we asleep)
Falka
(Wake up)
