The mood, the thoughts, the expressions are always different when music is involved. It's a thing about psychology indeed, people have gone from sad to happy, happy to sad, laughing to crying, just by listening to a song play and I am no exception to what music can do to humans.
Music uses our emotions to make better impact, if you're not affected in anyway when you listen, it's probably not a music or a good one. Some people even go as far as saying music is magic and I can not disagree with that thought as we could actually feel the magic in a playing song.
Ever wondered why we feel the way we feel when we listen to music? I've always wondered about that but somehow, it's unexplainable to me. I just learned to appreciate the power in music to heal, motivate, assist and even make someone feel high. When I say music assist, it limits loneliness.
I've also tried to picture what goes on with the connection between music and the human ear, how the music is transmitted from the ear to the mind and plays effects on our sensory cells to create happy or sad feelings in us as we keep listening. Music can only express it's power in us.
I was listening to a song for the first time in a movie and I just felt my heart beating more than usual, it has happened before but I didn't take much notice of it. I could feel my whole self loving everything about the song from melody to beat to lyrics, I couldn't stop wanting to listen on.
The psychology of music explores how music influences our thoughts, feelings and even our behavior. Music goes beyond that as we could also use music to express ourselves, speak and connect with others (a social effect). This applies to every human whether a music lover or not.
One thing with music that will always connects us deeply is the memory and nostalgia it brings when we listen. I don't know about you but there are songs I'll listen to, I would feel goosebumps all over because I've been taken back to a past memory that brings all sort of feelings to me.
One time, I was taken back to the time dad would play old blues for my siblings and I to go to sleep. Somehow, those songs are a part of what makes me who I am today because it kinda builds itself in my head and in my heart with my full permission. Songs of my childhood in adulthood.
Music help people find themselves, it has helped me. They say, you could know a person by the kind of music they listen to, this is not far from the truth. And because of this, to gain a positive impact from music, it is advised to choose very carefully the kind of music you listen to everyday.
The impact of music in our lives, our culture and in what we believe in, can not be underestimated. It is more than listening (physical) to psychology.
