Randomly Nigerian

"Normally I regard myself as a music connoisseur". A friend of mine read this on one of my recent #threetunestuesday post and had a fit about it.
In her words...

"How's someone a musical connoisseur if he doesn't allow himself to try all genres of music."

Well that was a blow under the belt for me, I had no comeback.
In my defense, I never cared for popular Nigerian music because of the theme centered strictly on money, drugs and women. It seemed as though if any, either or all of these three things aren't in your song then you aren't a Nigerian artist and that killed the industry for me.
Of course, there were some artists who were exceptions and reached out to other themes of music, artists like Burna Boy and Omah Lay that made their music actually mean something and shared something with it's listener.

Regardless, due to her words, I was moved to prove my name and try some popular Nigerian songs from any artist of my choice and thus here we are...

Randomly Nigerian

- Me and You ~ Tems

What made me choose this song?
The fact that it's a song at efootball 2025, so 3 out of 5 times I start the game, at the load out menu, that's what I hear.
I'm not a Tems fan. Nothing personal but I just hate the fact that most of her male fans are literally fanning her body and not her voice. Somehow making everything sexual, so I try to abstain from them and her music in general.
Plus the fact I don't actually listen to the genre of songs she sings. Still it's a lovely voice, this is a nice song, catchy too.

- Cast ~ Shalippopi

I talked about the Laho snippet 2 posts ago. Shallipoppi is actually an artist that I do like. Love his vibe that he had with his music, it's about drugs and money, yes. But somehow it's a bit different, comical and amusing maybe.
Somehow all his tunes are one that you can move your body to and this one is no different.

- Wotowoto Seasoning ~ Odumodu Black

Odumodu Black (Big Kala) is a Nigerian artist that literally just exploded two years ago and I never understood why.
He talked about money, sex and drugs but almost nobody could understand him on most of his songs.
I'll admit though, he does have some melodies in a crude kind of way.
This song is one I literally just listened to because I remember how so many of his fans I knew posted about it.
As I expected, I didn't understand it, nor can I even decide to thinking what it's about. Like I do understand the words, but don't get the context, regardless I do like the tune and as always it's unexpectedly melodic.

So that's it for some random Nigerian tunes.
Would I do this regularly?
Most likely not, yet at least when next she happens to read my post, I can look smug as I say I did listen to these 3 songs✨

For those unfamiliar with #ttt

It Goes Like This

Every Tuesday, I'll share three tunes which I love and you can share your's too or just decide to comment on which is your favorite.
If you do decide to share, you need to tag @ablaze and use the #ttt tag on your posts.
