I have managed to pick up some amazing deals over the last couple of months of doing some selling, but there have been a few that have slipped through my fingers.
Missing Out
I've missed out on a few really good deals, by what feels like a matter of minutes.
There have been a couple of times I've seen something that seems amazing, but due to a lack of knowledge on a certain type of item, I head off to look some stuff up and get a guesstimate on the value of the particular item/ items.
For example, I saw one lot, and I think it was around €15 for something like 10+ Star Wars mini-figs, little Lego people. I knew it was a bargain, and knew I could flip them, but I messed around looking stuff up for a few minutes.
The deal would have been worth about €150 or so, if they all sold of course, and by time I got onto the seller asking about them, they were all gone.
They also had Marvel characters, and DC characters too, in separate listings. I was going to pick them all up, but the ones I was looking up and most interested in were the Star Wars ones.
After that, I decided to ask first, just to strike up the chat, then look up the value, because I can always say "no thanks, I've changed my mind," if I find that the sellers price is on par with what the value of the item/ items are.
More Than I Can Handle
At this point, I'm coming close to being at a point I can't handle what I've got to sell.
I've made my money back on everything, and am into profit now on things currently selling, and things that'll sell in the future. But, the sheer amount of stuff I have to clean, assemble, photograph, and list is kind of sickening, and can sometimes leave me a bit overwhelmed.
It wouldn't be a major issue if I just had more time in the day/ night, to do it. But, sadly I just don't.
The only way I could realistically get through it all is if I brought a bunch of stuff down to Aimee's place, where I could prep them, and then bring them back with me for photographing/ storing.
I think I will do that to be fair, but it's such a pain in the ass, and also, the biggest road block to doing that is the fact there just isn't a lot of space for me to do so.
Right now I have about 104 items listed, and another 300+ to list.
See, I like the buying, negotiating, and deal snipping side of things, so I've managed to accumulate a silly amount of cool things, but the bit that lets me down is the time it takes to get this stuff ready to sell - especially the Lego sets.
Full Time
I don't think I'd ever be at the stage where I could do this as a full time job, but at the moment it's a really fun side-earner/ hobby.
Doing it full time would be so fun, and probably more work/ stress than my current jobs, but it would be something I'd really like to do.
I'd love to get out to some car-boot sales too, because there are plenty of deals to be had in those places, and it would be a good chance to practice my haggling/ negotiation skills IRL.
If I was making roughly double or triple what I am currently, per month, I'd consider doing it full time, but right now, it's just nice to have this second stream coming in.
