If you are a follower of my blogs a few weeks ago I said about our problem regarding the rising sea level that almost reaches our home due to the broken barriers of fish ponds near us.
At first, I said that the sea grew for three days in a row but on that day the sea only reached one and a half boxes of the space that used to be rice fields before and I mentioned that there will be three more consecutive days next week and the sea level is even bigger than the previous one.
So this is the situation during the sea rises.
This is the back part of the house where you could see the rice field and in front of it is the small fish pond owned by my husband's family (besides the small hut in the first photo) next is where the large fish pond where the production of milkfish, prawns and other seafood own by private businessman (which suppose to have their own water barriers that can control the entrance of seawater but then was destroyed during the typhoon last December), and next to it is the sea which is the source of salt water to become brackish water which is the best for productions of the seafoods here.
This is the back of the house where I use to plant my sweet potatoes, flowering and ornamental plants and bananas.
it was taken past 11 am.
Then at noon time, the water has really reached my plants.
This happened over three days and unfortunately, it was the heat of the weather that made the situation worse and this is what happens to the crops and weeds that are exposed to the water.
All the plants that have been hit by the sea water have now turned yellow and most of their leaves are falling off and the small grasses that have turned brown seem to be dying as well. It's a good thing that some of my plants that are in the pot and would have been hit are moved away to a higher place.
What is happening is sad, especially to my other neighbours because if I have only a few crops, they have boxes of rice planted that are used to be their source of food for the next month are all withered.
Now, I feel relief because just this morning a big rain happened and I believe it was very good for the plants maybe some of them can revive. Even though we are expecting another high tide next month today I just hope and pray that it won't be worst and I hope that the barriers will fix by the owners very soon. And if this natural phenomenon will happen again because we cannot predict I will make sure to check the tides so next time I will know when to plant so I can avoid this again since this mostly happened in the place where we live.
