My experience and dissatisfaction with the yuletide season in the south east of Nigeria.

2024 seems to be the most insane period in Igbo land as price of transportation went up during this yuletide season, the petrol marketers and the Nigerian national petroleum commission NNPCL have said to have put a discount on the price of petrol nationwide, but our people in the south eastern which is a Christian dominated region of the country have refused to bring down the price of transportation to ease the suffering of the populise, on two occasions did I go to the bus terminal to prize the amount in which commuters pay for a seat in a public transport company bus around the south eastern part of the country and my discovery will shock you.
I went to three different bus terminal which one of them stood out to me in the end.
On December 23rd 2024 I took my time to investigate these bus terminal price for passengers on the trip to Enugu from Onitsha, I first enquired from peace mass transit buses and they said it's 6000 NGN,
I also went to janco motors which is not far from the same park to ask for their transportation price too, they told me it's 6500 NGN from the same location to Enugu state.
I got angry and decided to ask another bus terminal which I am convinced that it's a property of Enugu state government according to it's name, which is Enugu state transport corporation, they told me their transportation price to the same destination is 5500 NGN, but back forward to 28th august of this same year 2024, I paid 3000 NGN to the same location in Enugu state, just to meet a loved one.
Fast forward to this day 31st of December 2024 which is few hours to a new year of 2025, all these bus terminals I just mentioned above have astronomically inflated the price of this transportation through there buses to 9000 NGN, for peace mass transit limited, 8500 NGN, for Enugu state transport corporation and 10000 NGN, for Janco motors respectively.
So am worried that this is happening in a Christian dominated region of the country and from all I can understand Christmas is all about giving and receiving but why are these Igbo business men only focused so much on receiving instead of giving?
Please is there any solution to solve this problem?
Happy new year fellow hivers.

Sadly a lot of people don’t care and use any excuse to get more money out of people. They were probably trying to recuperate lost money due to high prices before.

That seems like it maybe what they're trying to do but looking at the issue very well, it seems to me that it's not, they are only extorting from people.
I leave in jalingo taraba state and the transportation price to jalingo from Onitsha since the time I came back for Christmas have not seen that amount of price growth, I paid 25000 NGN just to get home but I'm only paying 27000 NGN to go back home.
The bus terminal I use for this travel is AJ Dan pulo.
