Hi fellow ranters, I decided to write about the current state of my country after considering quite a number of challenging factors in the country. Who knows, help might just surface or suggestions to better the lives of citizens in the country.
I was just having a chat with one of my highly respected hiveian @fashtioluwa and we digressed a bit to talk about the current situation of the country. Although the discussion was sarcastic but the reality is far from it.
Both the rich and poor in Nigeria are busy feeling the heat currently. Businesses are crashing, people are suffering, and prices of everything are increasing daily. Recently, we heard that fuel, premium motor spirit will be sold at #910 per litre an increase from about #600 plus.
Electricity is an issue; fuel is not available, and sometimes nature can even be against your solar source of power by raining all day without any sun to supply some energy.
Sometimes people eat what they see and not what they desire. Food preservation issues, a lack of energy to support businesses leading to extinction, and a host of other issues are currently unsolved.
The reasons for the current problem in Nigeria can only be attributed to bad leadership. Even as of this morning, there was a story about a politician complaining that #29,000,000 is too small for senators compared to what governors get on a monthly basis, which is about #700,000,000!
I was telling some that Afghanistan currency currently has more value than the naira. About #25 plus per naira. This wasn't the case many years ago, and though everyone has their own view and arguments about the current country's situation, if bad governance can end, I believe a better Nigeria can emerge.
Taking the focus from the government to us individuals, there is a need to be kind in a time like this. I have seen many kind Nigerians, but I believe we can do better not just within our shores but beyond.
