Robbed through desperation

As you probably already know, I've been working hard to relocate to Canada with my partner. We've been working round the clock every single day since October last year to raise enough money for this venture and some days I feel like we've made no progress but I guess we have.

We encountered a major roadblock a few weeks ago when we realised that we were both unqualified to apply for a Master's program. I lost sleep to that realisation while we struggled to find an alternative path. We briefly considered a visitation Visa and going through a very long path but I knew it wouldn't be very feasible.

After a few days of pondering, I realised that the best option would be to run a Master's program here in our country, thereby increasing our chances of getting accepted into a University in Canada for a second Master's.

We agreed this would be an amazing idea and began our search for a University that would accept us mid-semester. Thankfully, after paying a bribe of $100 we have both successfully gotten into a University.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the course I wanted so I had to settle for what was available. Getting into another university in my country was never a part of my plans. My first experience was bad enough.

However, this time around I have the intention of using my knowledge of the system to my favor. I don't plan on being as religious as I was with classes during my undergrad but I do plan on actually reading and of course, bending the system to my favour where it's necessary.

I was the epitome of innocence during my undergrad, I gave no bribes and did my best to merit my grades honestly and that got me nowhere. I was robbed of grades and became a below-average student.

This time around, I'll be sure to do my best and then somewhere necessary because I HAVE to get an above-average certificate. The only downside of this is the fact that other students see this as an opportunity to take advantage of me.

For instance, I just paid over $1 for a textbook because someone wanted to prey on my desperation. I was also told I could pay a bit more to get someone to do some assignments for me and I considered it briefly but then I realised that in the era of ChatGPT and other helpful AI, it would be unwise for me to do that when I can easily do it myself.

If I play my cards right, I should be done with this entire program by November and then I can easily move on to my main plans. I would simply hate to spend a lot more than I planned on a program that wasn't even a part of my plans in the first place.

While I don’t love the things you are having to do like bribes to get ahead, I know that you are trying to do what you can to get out of your situation so I can sympathize with your situation.

When you do get to canada - don’t expect bribes to work there! Even if they do, I would not do it so that you can do it the right way instead of allowing a highly flawed environment succeed.

My current environment is flawed and things don't work the way they should. It's the main reason Im trying to leave. I want to succeed without being compelled to bend an already bent system. I just hope it all works out.
