Greetings lovely hivers!
For this week's #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle , I was introduced here in a bookstore where good quality copies and affordable books are at a this store.
I have mentioned it once to a friend that I wanted to read some novels to learn how different authors write their imageries in their stories. It's been quite a while of hiatus from literary works, and my writing skills have dulled, I couldn't deny that anymore. I've have learned those by reading books that are rich with classic figures of speech, colorful imagery, and magnificent plots. It's just amazing to create a work of your own and publish it too on a paper or at a school's publication at least. I envied my batchmates, I admit, whenever I see their works on a school magazine.
Like, why I can't do that anymore? Where's the drive and creativity? All has gone into the midair?
A good friend heard my concerns and brought me here. It was located at the second floor of a building where I least expect to be a bookstore. We were guided to the dark hallway upstairs. It looked like an ordinary hotel room at a first impression. If I haven't read signage, I would truly mistaken it as one.
Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars. One way of saying to aim higher, strive more to thrive, so even if you fail at one step, you still can't fall down that low. I love that quote actually. This fixture was the one who would greet customers as they open the door. Simple but eye-catching.
The place was just a typical room space turned into a display of shelves of different books. We're both excited to find the book we desire, so we checked every shelf looking for the title and authors that piqued our interests. It wasn't long for me to find books that suited my kind of genres. I familiarized where they were placed, so I could get back to it later when I decide to choose and pay.
They have hardbounds and light paperbacks. Different kinds of genres like fantasies, action-thrillers, romance, classics, and history. The authors I have mostly seen was Terry Brooks, J.K. Rowling, Dan Brown, James Patterson, and Sandra Brown, the rest were unfamiliar to me but their titles and previews sounds intereting, too. If I would let myself choose all the books I liked in that store, I would have gotten myself broke in a second.
Aside from books, they also sell highlighters, bookmarks, and cute stickers. I don't usually use highlighters because I don't want to write something on my books. I'd like to keep them the way are as possible. So if I wanted to take some notes, I would write them down on stickernote or in my notebook, sometimes in my phone and then I can view it anywhere if I wanted to recall the lessons.
We walked around checking every shelf to choose what we liked the most among them. My friend likes historical books and American literature, while I looked for some fantasies and action-thrillers books. I'm really amazed how authors can play their creativity to be able to perfectly narrate a scenario that could leave readers in a daze of wonders.
I've seen some Harry Potter books and Sherlock Homes. I want to have a stash of those but I don't have enough money for them all. So, I only bought The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and The Shannara Chronicles by Terry Brooks, and then I borrowed a book called Mansfield Park by Jane Austen from @breepickledoodle to save less.
