Travel, Walk, Coffee...

in #hive-1963082 years ago

In an increasingly ugly and unsafe world, I believe that the chance for psychological resilience is to think about pleasant things. To do what we like, as far as we can. Small things that bring us joy in life. Like travel.

Obviously, travel can be a source of stress and unpleasantness too, but if we can get past that plague, what remains is a salve for the soul and mind. I've tried this therapy myself and it's worked... I don't wake up in the morning thinking about the troubles, I wake up with memories and images of the last trip. On the last trip, I made it to a small mountain town 120 km from my home. It is called Sinaia and is famous because near the town, in a clearing, the first king of Romania, Carol I, built a beautiful castle, Peles Castle, to be the summer residence of the royal house. This happened in 1885. The presence of the royal house in this town meant that all the important people, aristocrats, and rich people of the country spent the summer in Sinaia. It was the reason why the town developed and became well known.

After 137 years since the construction of Peles Castle I arrived, accompanied by two ladies, one of whom is my wife, to travel to Sinaia.

We traveled by train, it only took an hour and a half. Much more convenient than by car. We arrived quite early in the morning and as the accommodation could only be made after 2 p.m. we did some walking around the city and the central park.

As soon as I arrived in town I felt two things. The fresh and cool mountain air and the lack of crowds, of people but especially of cars. This is a pleasant city to live in.

Strange is that a small town surrounded by forests and mountains, so with lots of greenery, has a beautiful park in the center. We decided to explore this park a bit.

The park is particularly beautiful and well-kept. The walkers are mostly older people, like us, who come to this town for the fresh air and peace and quiet. People who prefer to walk and relax in this park. We don't sow here anymore, we come to do many things in a very short time, which will prove very tiring.

Our walk was very short because, fortunately, we quickly saw what we needed most. A cafe!

A very romantic café and confectionery!

The first coffee of the day, taken in such a pleasant setting. The view of the park seen from the café table amplifies the pleasure of the moment.

This park is very old and contains a lot of history. In this park are built two hotels and the famous casino. Even the kiosk that we watch from the cafe has its own history. This is where the greatest and most famous Romanian composer, George Enescu, played on the occasion of the opening of the casino!

George Enescu, even if he was a great composer, violinist, pianist, and teacher, is still an unknown to many people less interested in classical music, that's why I allow myself to put here a video of his most famous composition, Roman Rhapsody. Conducted by another great Romanian artist, the Conductor Sergiu Celibidache!

George Enescu's presence in Sinaia is due both to the fact that he was close to the royal family and to the fact that he had a holiday home here.

The coffee gave us the necessary energy to leave the park and take a tour of the city. Luckily, we saw that there was a kind of train that goes around the city and so we took a ride sitting on the seats.

This was a walk to get acclimatized to the city and an opportunity to take some photos. Here are some pictures from Sinaia...

The mountains that surround the city. These are the Bucegi Mountains, part of the Carpathian Mountains.

Some houses are specific to mountain villages. They are villas built in the last century, probably holiday homes that have been converted into pensions or small hotels.

I learned about a few streets and saw a few places I want to visit more closely. The train tour ended also in the city center, at the roundabout. I noticed that roundabouts have fountains in the middle. This is something specific to this city, I've never seen something similar elsewhere.

How much does the trip to Sinaia cost?

A small recap of the costs for one night in a guesthouse and almost two days in town.

The train from Bucharest to Sinaia costs $20 per person round trip.
A night at the pension cost $40, but it was a promotion. Normally it costs about $60. The pension where we stayed is called Pension Alex and has a very good Hungarian restaurant.
Breakfast was $5 and lunch was $10.
It works out that transportation, food for 2 days, and one night's accommodation cost per person about $100.

This is the end of this short, partial presentation of the trip to Sinaia. A trip that I warmly recommend to all tourists who come to visit the capital Bucharest and who have at least one day free. Because it is possible to make a one-day trip with much lower costs.

#MarketFriday, this challenge imagined by @dswigle can only end with a flower. Now a flower from Sinaia, from Sinaia Casino.

It looks like a great place to visit and when there the costs doesnt seem to be that high! :D

Yes, it is still cheap, especially for Western tourists. But unfortunately, the trend is for everything to get more expensive. Thank you!

What a lovely place to visit. Thank you for capturing the wonder of Sinaia and sharing it here with us.

With pleasure!

Beautiful place, the greenery the sorround the city ,so stunning.

Thank you!

Wow! Stunning! I would definitely live in this place for sure, fresh air . And the park look so clean and green as well.

Multumesc! It's a place where life can be beautiful...

What a delightful trip!
A cup of coffee is always good!

Thank you very much! At least a cup of coffee!

I have to say that your pictures are very beautiful! It's a very nice place, but...

This is a pleasant city to live in.

I don't want to disagree with you and I don't know where you live right now. But I had the experience of living for a month in places like that, and there is a moment when you say: OMG, I need people!! LOL. And I'm from a small-medium city in Argentina (Mendoza).

I just say :P

Cool post!

Ha, ha..., I live in the capital Bucharest, with 3 million inhabitants. I think that might explain the desire to live in a much smaller city. On the other hand, in all my trips to small cities, I never stayed more than 10 days. So I agree, you're right!
Nice name for your city, Mendoza.
Thanks for having the curiosity to read my post!

😊 Have a nice Saturday!!

Hello @bluemoon

I could not agree with you more about travel and all that it brings. I think traveling and visiting other countries and exploring other countries is the best way to learn about people, the world, and ourselves.
From your photos, I agree that it's a beautiful place.

That's a VERY romantic looking cafe indeed. It would have been hard for me to resist such a place.

Stunning images, and I've thoroughly enjoyed this tour:)))

Thank you very much. I'm glad if I managed to present a nice picture of this place and I'm even more glad that you liked it!

😊 You sure did!
Have a nice weekend:)

You reminded me to travel again. It's been two months since I had one .
I like that castle-like house converted to pension or small hotel. It looks enchanting..
The place is peaceful too...perfect for a stroll.
.

This is also the purpose of this post. To give ideas or desire for travel. Thank you!

TRAVELING brings us Joy in life....
I totally agree.
Also, it would be great to travel with a buddy who thinks alike - one who's simple and very resourceful so that packing so many things won't be an issue.

Looking at your pics, it is my first time seeing such a clean town. The trees all look well taken care of.
It also looks like a great place to migrate to.

That cafe pic you got there, caught my eye! hahahaha!!! TEDDY BEEEEARRRRS!!! Why'd they have them there?

and GEORGE ENESCU's video. AMAZING Classical Music! BEAUTIFUL! People like you should share more beautiful stuff like this.

You are what we call a person with good taste!

From your pictures, they way you've appreciated which places to take a pic of and the music you've shared.

I suddenly love #MARKETFRIDAY
What an awesome way to share and blog!

See you again!
Love lots,
@erelasblog

Thank you for all your appreciation, you are sensitive and see what is beautiful! I'm so glad you liked George Enescu, you gave me proof that I wasn't wrong when I put this video up.
Yes, it's a neat town and that's due to the mayor in the first place.
Teddy Bears? Probably just for decoration.
Thanks so much for this great feedback!

You are very welcome. I truly enjoyed reading and seeing the town through your #photography.
Keep it up and hoping to see more of the places you visit.
Until then, catch you later!

I have noticed that people including me have focused on going somewhere as much as possible to keep their mental health good since the outbreak of the pandemic. It doesn't need to be abroad as it is already expensive nowadays.

Yes, you're right, it doesn't have to be abroad unless it's cheaper.

you post is very amazing. ialso wrote travel post but your post is motivating to write so beautiful

Thanks and good luck!

I'll go over the cafe if I found one in a place, too. I can smel the aroma of the coffee over here, haha. Coffee lover here. 😊 Those pensions or hotels looks cool and amazing. They look like the home of witches and vampires in a historical movies.

You're right on time. Less than 100 km away is Bran Castle, where Dracula, the world's most famous vampire, is believed to have lived (or even still "lives")!

I like how you explain the place from the words and also pictures, it seems so pretty and interested to visit :) @bluemoon

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
