Hello friends of this wonderful community,

Today I would like to share with you my experience at a street market that takes place once a week in a town about 5 km away from my house. This town is called San Bonifacio and is located in the province of Verona.

This morning, I went there because I had some errands to run at the municipal post office. Additionally, I often go to that market to buy fruits and vegetables. There are two Indian guys who sell these products at a very affordable price, only one euro per kilo, which is a great deal compared to supermarket prices. I take the opportunity to buy about 4 or 5 kilos of fruits and vegetables from them, spending a maximum of 5 euros. This quantity is enough for me for the whole week, even though I also receive some vegetables from my parents, who have a small plot of land. Additionally, I try to grow some things in my small garden, although in recent years it has been challenging due to the constantly changing weather conditions.

Today, I decided to take some photos inside this market. I usually arrive very early, around 8:00, so there aren't many people yet. Most people arrive around 10:00, and that's why I prefer to go early to avoid the crowd. When I arrive at that time, the vendors are still setting up their stalls. In fact, I noticed that some of them still have to arrive and settle in their places. Each vendor has their assigned space that they pay for and is reserved for them, as long as they are up to date with their payments, otherwise they are fined.

As you can see from the photos I took, there are stalls of all kinds: fruits, vegetables, household items, clothing, and shoes. You will find vendors of different nationalities. Once, it was common for the stalls to pass from one generation to another within Italian families. However, over time and with the decline in earnings, many Italians have abandoned this work, and they have been replaced by Chinese and, more recently, by many Indians as well.

I am grateful that these people from other countries have taken their place, and we continue to have markets like this. Furthermore, they are honest and offer me fruits and vegetables at a very low price. It is estimated that there are about 150 stalls in the market, although I haven't personally counted them, but I read this figure on the Internet. This market is one of the largest in the area, but if I have the opportunity, I will also show you other markets.

Sometimes I think that the work of the vendors in this market is quite tough, especially due to the extreme weather conditions. During the summer, it gets very hot, with temperatures that can exceed 40 degrees, while in winter it can drop to -5 degrees. So, it's a strenuous job, considering the taxes to be paid and the reduced earnings.

I thank all of you for reading this post, and I hope you found it interesting. I hope the photos I shared with you were equally intriguing. I wish you all a wonderful day!
