There is one place where I like to spend my free time. It is the Zemun quay next to the Danube river in Belgrade. When I went there a few days ago, I had no idea that the Street Food Festival was being held that day.
I usually go there for a pleasant walk by the river but also for the open market where I buy fresh fruits and vegetables, but this time the street food festival was an unexpectedly good opportunity for my entry for #MarketFriday challenge initiated by @dswigle.
Various street foods were sold at stalls. The prices were affordable and there were also food testings. When we arrived, the smell of burgers was everywhere.
I'm not a fan of burgers but lately they have become a very popular street food in my country.
For vegans and vegetarians, there was plant-based food as well. They say veggie burgers are just as tasty as meat burgers. But I can't believe that. 😊
In addition to food, souvenirs were sold. The wooden houses caught my attention.
I'm a fan of cheese and prosciutto, so I had to go to the stall selling cheeses and prosciutto from mountain regions. If you visit Serbia, know that the food from the mountain regions is of the highest quality and tastiest.
The stall with mountain products was interestingly decorated. I really liked that little sheep. 😊
When you eat, you also have to drink something. You could buy an Aperol Spritz, a delicious cocktail for 5 euros.
You can't help but notice their orange van, it's awesome. And this drink was invented in 1919 in Padua.
The quality beer Birra Moretti, which was the sponsor of this event was sold at the stands.
And you could also drink one of my favorite alcoholic drinks, Jack Daniels. 😊
There was another interesting van selling sweet dumplings with different fillings.
The atmosphere was lively thanks to the music program of the DJs. There were a lot of visitors.
At the Street Food Festival, there were also stands that were not related to food, but used the event for their promotion. Thus, a sports betting company organized a game for points in basketball that bring bonus prizes.
When it comes to international food, sushi and other Asian food were sold.
But I love Italian food the most. I really wanted to try the pasta with pineapple, chicken and some special sauce, but the crowd was big and I couldn't wait.
My kids wanted us to eat Italian pizza. Their stand was also beautifully decorated and there was a great crowd.
The pizza master made pizzas very quickly and worked without a break all day to make pizzas for everyone. 😊
The wait was worth it because the pizza was delicious. Zemun quay is a place where you feel very relaxed.
We went down to the river to eat pizza and feed the swans of course. 😊
It was an awesome day. Thank you @dswigle for the inspiration and the chance to participate in the #MarketFriday challenge again.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
