THIS IS BODIJA MARKET.
Bodija Market is a popular open-air market located in Bodija, Ibadan North, Oyo State, South Western Nigeria. The market was originally a fighting arena which is reflected in its name. The market was established in 1987 due to the growth and overcrowding at Orita-Merin Market which was the only main market at Ibadan at the time. Many food traders where relocated to Bodija market. Along with cattle seller, traders from Sango- Ibadan was also relocated to the market.
The design of the market is such that each produce such as: pepper, beans, rice, yam, beverages has it own rows of stalls. The market is a mixture of open space trading, concrete, and wooden stalls.

I remember when I was young, when my mum will take me to Bodija market, along with my siblings, it was always frustrating, because we will have to sit inside the car to wait for her to get foodstuffs from the market, and it usually takes time. Not like I volunteer to go with her, but it’s usually when she comes to pick my siblings and I from weekend lessons, that she branches the market to get foodstuffs. My dad doesn’t like driving or taking my mum to the market, he always complain that she waste time at the market, lol..

So for a bachelor that lives alone, I do my shopping myself. Every first week or second week of each month, I go to the market to get some foodstuffs. I don’t eat out that much, I like preparing my meal myself, so I try to buy most of the things I’ll be needing to feed-on for the month. Such as: rice, beans, yam, potatoes, crayfish, onions, vegetable oil, garri( cassava flake), spices, beverages, and so on.
Cooking for myself is always fun, because it’s part of my hobbies. Well, I learnt how to cook from my mum. I am always in the kitchen with her when cooking. While growing up my siblings usually laugh at me that I like food a lot, because I am always with my mum in the kitchen. Maybe I was just curious to know how she prepares it, lol...

The famous Bodija market, nothing has changed really

That is a pretty large market! I am not sure anyone has ever brought me here yet. Now I need to check. I have become familiar with some of the markets and it is always interesting to see how different the view is from one person to the next.

It is excellent that you learned from your Mum! Now, who is laughing? You can prepare your own meals and they are probably better for you and you get to save money! I never eat out either. I think here in the US, they use too many processed foods and fry too much, although there are fresh options, but, they cost three times as much! :)

Anyway, good post, but please don't use the same picture more than one time. Several times you used the same shot twice. You had enough pictures, you didn't have to do that. I hope you dropped the link on my #MarketFriday post. Thank you! Thank you for being a part of the #MarketFriday Challenge! I have personally found there is always so much to learn about people, where they live, and how things are done in different parts of the world and I love hearing from you! For me, reaching out across the globe and learning about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, has been such a rewarding experience. You know how much I love gardens and even our gardens are different from place to place. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the rituals, festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... and what is normal for us? There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. We do differ in many ways, which makes us interesting and unique, but, there are many ways in which are so much alike.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
