Yesterday, I overheard Mom talking to Mommy D about buying oranges and something. That's what I only heard, I didn't hear the full conversation, though. Then this morning, I finally understood that she would need those ingredients for some healthy smoothy, which is good for the eyes and has vitamin A because of the ingredients. But before that, let me tell you a short story as to why she wants to make this smoothie.
Last week, Mommy D went to the hospital for a checkup on her eyes. Then she found out that she has cataracts on the right eye while the left eye is starting to get affected too, in fact, the right eye can't see anymore, so she wants to do something about it. She has the option to try the surgery by implanting something in her eyes. But for one eye only, she has to spend 100,005 PHP, and that's approximately $1,763.72. Good gracious! Jusmiyo marimar!
She has the money, but she's still thinking if she will try it. And while she's in the thinking process, Mommy F thinks of looking for good fruits that will be good for Mommy D's eyes. I don't know, she's thinking that maybe by doing that, Mommy D's eye will get a little better. But I know that Mommy F really just wants to help Mommy D by doing this. You know, helping in her own way.
So anyways, that is why Mommy F came up with that plan, and today, as early as 6:30 am, we embarked on our short journey, going into the public market. Off we go!
There she is, walking lively as if she just got out into the house, lol. Well, that's right. After not going outside like this for months, I can understand why she is very eager to have this walk, and at the same time, she's excited for this. She had a short walk from time to time, but only in our house and not like this. I'm glad she thought of doing this. Now she just had her short exercise.
Mr. Sunny was already out at that time, but no problem, as we also need that. And it is not that painful to the skin, so it's all good. Mom continues her walk while I'm taking her photo. She also said that I should share this on her Facebook page with the caption "nakalabas din ng lungga" or "glad I was able to come outside again." Lol, the tagalog caption is more funny than the English translation, but that'll do.
There she is still thinking about whether to get the big orange or the small one,. But she wants to get the big one because we know that it is sweet, but it is kind of expensive. It is $0.62 each, or we could get it for $1.76 for three pieces. Still expensive, gosh. Why are the prices here that expensive? So we just settle for the smaller one, which is 3 for $0.88. We get 12 pieces for $3.53.
By the way, on our way while looking for the fruits needed, I stumble upon this pretty Ming Ming cleaning her hair thoroughly. Look at that. I tried petting her, and she's really accommodating. She meowed at me loudly, as if she were saying "hello" to me. She's sweet, but sadly, I'm not sure if she has an owner. But someone was shooing her away when she's not even doing anything aside from being in the way of everyone walking inside the market, lol.
So anyway, we finally found those fruits that we needed. We stay there a little longer as we want to find a few fresh fruits, so we took our time choosing what's the best fruit to take. It took a little longer, but it's okay, the walk we did inside the market was like a little exercise too for our legs, (≧▽≦).
We're about to exit the market when Mother saw someone. They talk a little just about the land and this certain person, lol. You know, this is what I hate when I'm with someone and they see someone they know, and we have to stop just so they can talk. Sometimes, they talk for more than 10 minutes, and that is really annoying. To be honest, I just want to leave pronto. Especially if it happens while I am carrying more than 2 kilos of goods in my hands. Is it just me? But good thing Mom and this woman talk only for 1 to 2 minutes this time. I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for them while carrying three kilos of fruits, lol.
And we're home, and this is what we got at the market. looks good except for the banana. But Mom prefer a ripe banana, so this is good. With the smoothie she planned to make, she won't put sugar on it, so the banana and carrot will serve as their sugar because, you know, they are sweet, right?
And because it's Mom who knows what to do with the smoothie, I just waited for her to prepare the ingredients, and when it's finally time to blend it, that's when I make my entrance, tadaaaan! Lol. And like this, I used the third pulse to blend the fruits smoothly, because it is a smoothie, you know, lol. We just put all the ingredients together with two cups of water. And after a minute of blending it, when I see that it is already good for Mom, that's when I kill it.
And there you have it. We should use a strainer to squeeze the juices out of it, but we urge Mom to just let it be and drink it like that. Because throwing those tiny bits of its fruit is such a waste. So when we drink it, we can't gulp it in one drink. But we like it, we like that we can chew those tiny bits of fresh fruit from that drink.
And you know, at first, I really thought the combination of banana, orange, and carrots was weird, but when I tasted it, it was not that bad. In fact, I like the taste of it. And the smell - oh la la, it smells like heaven. I'm not sure if other people here have already tried it, but let me know what you think of these ingredients, if ever you did tried it.
And by the way, the source of this orange, banana, and carrot smoothie is on facebook. And it's Mom who found it. Maybe she looked for it there, and that's when she found it. Not bad, not bad. ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
