Yesterday morning Mommy F asked me to buy these two different kinds of rice cakes: "Puto" and "Kutsinta," as she was craving them and wanted to have them for breakfast. Who am I to say no? So I just ready myself, get my jacket, headset, and facemask, and then I walk to the market.
Good thing it is not that far from home, so I can just walk to reach it. I treat it like an early morning exercise, though I am walking at a slow pace because I want to feel the cold breeze from the morning sunshine. It is really cold here again, even at this moment, which is in my favor, to be honest.
I have every reason to wear my hoodie and facemask with the purpose of hiding my face and my short hair. I cut my hair short on impulse, which I am regretting now. I look like an idiot trying to hide it after cutting it very short. How I wish I could just attach that cut hair again, huhu. Oh, regrets, regrets! Tch.
Anyway, back to my mother's food cravings. I set out on a short journey to the market, which was just in time because Sunday is "Tiange-an" Day. You can see a lot of sellers in one place, where different varieties of fruits and veggies are scattered on the ground. This is what the "Tiange-an" is here in our barangay.
There's nothing much to see here because it is just 6:30 in the morning. We wake up at 5:30, just prepare ourselves, and then at 6:20 we will open our store. That is our everyday routine; nothing's new, just like always. If I didn't discover this cryptoblogging platform where I am currently at, for sure my life will be as boring as my love life, lol.
I am already near my destination. These flowers are already at the entrance. I just have to make a few steps, and the busy market will show up. When I get there, the market is not fully packed yet. People are for sure still in the church. After the mass, that is where people will flood. By the way, these flowers here are also for sale.
Tadaaaaaa! I only need the rice cake, which is why that's the first thing I look for. It is actually located just a few steps from me, and yes, in the entrance too. 5 to 6 steps from those beautiful flowers on the entrance. By the way, if you are not used to this kind of market, then I think this is not for you.
Because, as you can see, all of the goods were on the ground. Although it has a cover, some might still find it gross. But seriously, this is what the market looks like at our place every Friday and Sunday, and people here are used to it already. And, we always make sure that the goods that we buy here will be cleaned thoroughly.
And here's my destination, but the goods that I was looking for were not here, so I looked to the next stall. The price of each pack is 12 php, or $0.22, and each pack has 4 to 5 pieces of rice cakes. The Kutsinta has four pieces, while the Puto has five. Sorry, I couldn't take any photos of it. Mother is so eager to eat it; that is why I immediately prepared our breakfast.
Even she noticed that she suddenly took a liking to one of the types of rice cakes, which is the Kutsinta. In fact, she said she is craving it right now, lol. But sadly, there's no Tiange-an today, so she has to wait until Sunday. But let's see what happens tomorrow. I also have to go to the market again tomorrow. I have to buy fish for our cats, so I'll check it too.
There you go. As you can all see, some sellers have a table to put the goods that they sell, while others just use a plastic cover to secure their goods. And you know, to pick a fruit or a veggie, we will really squat in there to look for a good and fresh veggie. As for me, I hate doing that, so I let my mother do the checking while I carry all the goods.
Overall, a lot of sellers had a happy heart again because, for sure, they were able to sell a lot that day. And you know, we have a tribe here in Mindoro called Mangyan, and they also come down here to the land to sell their goods. We used to buy some goods from them too, but they only do house-to-house sales of their goods. And they sell it much cheaper than the price in the market.
I am just happy for them that instead of begging money on the street, which is much riskier because of accidents, they now have a decent job, which can help them too.
