Market Friday

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I may be, well no I am totally stretching the term market Friday, I did buy this item, but to be honest this fits more as a review sort of post I guess.
I a little while back saw a post by @themarkymark on his favorite technology gadgets and he mentioned the Streamdeck a very popular tool for live streamers and many others being able to quickly switch things on a computer at the click of a button.
This led me to check out the Loupedeck Live.

Well as you can see from this first photo I not only checked it out I ended up buying one

Now I did have a Loupedeck+ which I used a bit mainly when in Lightroom rating and editing photos, but I had a couple of issues with it, its size is about that of a keyboard and lining it up on my desk I never found it fit just right, plus depending on what screen you were in in Lightroom or photoshop the buttons and knobs had different actions they did and I had trouble remembering them at times and found myself reverting to using the mouse often

Now the last photo is with the PC turned off and probably it doesn't look much, but when your PC is on I am finding it so useful and suing it a lot

As you can see it has a screen which is divided into 12 touch buttons, 6 Knobs for adjusting settings, and it shows on the side of the screen what each knob is adjusting

and then 8 Buttons on the bottom to change the screen your working on

The cool thing is the software to set it up is very good once you work out how to use it which I didnt find to hard.
This next photo shots the setup I have at the moment when in the library module in Lightroom, so I can easily rate and color code the images I have

I am still working on setting it up, every now and again I think of somethi8ng I can add to it
this next shot is the basic screen is I am not in Lightroom or Photoshop, with the time, a Button which I have setup to open all the apps I use most days, it just needs me to touch that button and they all open up, the date, and a button to open the Loupedeck software, so I can make changes as I think of them,

The middle row you can see at the moment I have blank, but I suspect with time I will add more things to them, I would love to be technical enough to work out how to have them display the price of Hive and HBD, and will try and work out how to do that sometime

The bottom row are buttons that were setup by default with the exemption of the Text button which I added

That opens a New page where I have a few buttons with text shortcuts that I can paste in at the click of a button

The next shot shows the buttons I have on the first page of my Photoshop tools setup

Now Loupedeck started with tools primarily for lightroom and Photoshop, but with the Loupedeck Live and Loupedeck CT ( a bigger version with more buttons and controls), they have opened its us up for many other programs and apparently it has gained popularity with many live streamers.

But for me, it has proved to be a very handy tool for me, has made things easier and quicker particularly in lightroom at the moment which I have fine tuned the setup to suit my workflow.
and slowly will keep making adjustments for lightroom and other tasks on the computer

And that’s all folks

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

Have a great day

That actually looks really cool. I love the streamdeck, but the software is make or break for these devices. Not sure how the Loupedeck compares to the Streamdeck's software. Shame it doesn't have native Linux support and the native plugins look fairly limited to Adobe products and a few others.

It is working so well for me saves me a fair bit of time when editing photos, which I generally spend an hour or two doing each day, so speeding that up is a plus

I do agree Linus support would make it open for so many more uses, but it seems focused on Photographers and Live Streaming folks Primarily
Not sure how it works for Live Streaming compared tot he Streamdeck, as I do not do streaming

That thing looks pretty cool, I had no idea that they had these things for something like Lightroom or photo editing. Sounds like once you get into a flow with it, you can probably edit a picture pretty quickly!

Yeah it takes a little time to set it up and get used to it, but I am starting to see it saving me a lot of time

That is really awesome. I didn't even know they made something like this. I mean, I have a streamdeck here at work and it is awesome, but I just never put two and two together that they would make something like this for photo editing and stuff. Such a powerful device. I agree with @themarkymark, software can be a big deal. Especially if the particular piece you use doesn't already have macros created for the device. Congrats on the purchase. I hope you have a ton of fun with this!

Thanks I am finding it saves me a lot of time now I am getting used to it, just about each day I think of a tweak I want to make to fit it with my workflow, but the software words well to do that

I do agree it would be good if they could open it up even more to make it easier for people to add other software profiles to it, maybe that will come with time

I know with the streamdeck some people have written their own code for buttons. That is pretty cool. I like the idea of the dials for adjusting certain aspects of a photo. That alone has me sold.

Yeah
I saw someone made a profile for Microsoft flight simulator so it must be possible I guess

That is cool. My dad is really into Flight Sim. I might be talking him into a new toy!

I don’t know how good it is but it may make it easier having visual indicators of all the shortcuts

I talked to him and it sounds like he already has a lot of those functions built into the buttons on his yolk and throttle set. I might still pick one up for my office though!

Ohh yeah I didn’t think about that playing with a yolk is the way to go

Wow ,this is great. Am so impressed

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Have a great day

Oh wow!
Thanks for sharing, @tattoodjay.
I am very basic (and boring) when it comes to new things.

I am a bit of a gadget geek, I have slowed myself down since retiring, but this device I am finding so handy

The new Loupe Deck looks pretty cool. I have the original one that they came out with a few years ago and it is pretty cool. I dont use it as often as I should though to justify the cost of it.

I had the loupedeck+ and like you I found myself not using it as much as I thought it would
But this one I am using all the time mainly for photo editing, but i also have a couple of pages of text shortcuts for use on Farcebook or here on hive

It looks like a useful tool :) How much are they?

For those doing photo editing or live streaming i think it is a great tool for sure, and there about $270

That's a lot, what does it do that normal controls can't?

Well for the keyboard shortcuts you have to remember them all but with this they are labeled on the screen so easy to find
And can click from one setting to group to another so easily

Oh, more of just not having to remember the commands then?

Well that’s part of it
But also the knobs allow me to also adjust many settings easily with more precision than a mouse
