Tavip Market, main market in binjai city

in #hive-1963083 years ago

happy Market friday, my post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle. Binjai City is the smallest city on the island of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Although Binjai City is the smallest city in North Sumatra and even in Indonesia, Binjai City is a developed city, this is because Binjai City is the closest city to Medan City (the capital of North Sumatra Province) and Binjai City is a connecting city between Medan City and Aceh Province.Binjai's strategic geographical location has made trade in Binjai City progressed a lot.

speaking of trade, in Binjai city there is a main market called tavip market, tavip market is a traditional market. In the Tavip market,we can buy daily necessities at a lower price than other places, because in the Tavip market there are many big agents and farmers who sell their crops directly.

activity in the tavip market lasts for 24 hours. from 16.00 pm to 20.00 pm, local farmers and local agents started to come to sell their crops.at 20.00 pm to 03.00 am agents from various areas outside the city of Binjai began to arrive, even many agents from Karo district began to arrive (Karo district is located in the highlands and is the largest vegetable producer in North Sumatra).after 03.00 in the morning until 16.00 in the afternoon, the activities in the Tavip market are usually filled with retail sellers.

vegetable farmers sell their wares with paddle rickshaws like this.work selling vegetables in big rolls which we call bales, we can buy a bale of mustard greens for only 15,000 rupiah (USD.1.07) for now, because prices can change according to market prices while the retail vegetable sellers will sell on the roadside towards the Tavip market, the busiest activity is usually from 05.00 am to 06.00 am, because many retail traders from various regions come to shop.

Really interesting to read all about market prices and your shopping experience. Buying chickens like that must be cheaper way to eat meat. I raised some chickens to kill for meat but I couldn't do it and gave the roosters away. Thanks for sharing

Yes, I know what it's like to not want to cut a chicken that we raise ourselves, it seems there is a "love" feeling to slaughter it, even though we raise our own chicken to ensure the quality of the meat @riverflows

Thanks so much @dswigle for tip 🥰🥰🥰

My pleasure!

This may be the smallest, but, it has a huge market!! So much to see there, how do you manage to get through it all? So. if the heavy sales are at 5 am, is this a wholesale market or do they just buy and mark it up at their place of sale? It sure saves you money to buy from here then, doesn't it?

I notice your beef is expensive there? It is not an item that is popular there? Or they don't raise much beef? The fish is a great price, especially the tuna! I love going to my fish market and getting it right off the boat. We are both lucky to live near the water! I have never slaughtered a chicken and I am not sure I can, but, I know people do it and I do love chicken.

It is nice that your traders make up spice packets! I have a spice store, so I guess it is about the same thing, but, the store will be more expensive as they pay rent. I have not seen a market that has that. I am envious! :)

All in all, you have presented a wonderful market and an awesome post! Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday! I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see so many participating every week. I have learned so much about the different cultures of the world, especially the small things that go unnoticed except by those looking for it. Life is interesting, wherever you are, whatever you are doing.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Anyone reading this can learn how to be a part!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
