There is nothing impossible in this World. We need to be strong, motivated and direction oriented. Today, I met to Dragonfly when I was busy in Gardening at Home and learned many things from this insect. Its 90% growth (Nymph Stage) started in water while next 10% growth happened in air. Its beautiful creation is still celebrated in many cultures. Many people consider it as a symbol of Change and Self-realization because it's creation spreads a positive motive that everything is impossible until we make it possible. We should never lose hope and beleive in our strength. Its captivating beauty and unbelievable invention by God tempted me to research about it. I not only snapped it's different clicks but also studied it's Entomology. I was surprised to find many things that were once secret for me.
Interesting Scientific Facts
This innocent, harmless and non-stingy insect has many surprising facts that have Scientific Stamp. I'm sure that Helicopter was invented after searching on its creation. This lovely insect has not only many moral secrets for humanity but also has some following hidden Scientific Facts.
1. More Ancient than Dinosaurs
Dragonflies are hovering on this planet from 300 Million Years ago, predating Dinosaurs. Its Ancestors had wingspans (Long Wings) upto 2.5 feets.
2. Unique Flight
They are Multidirectional Flyers. They can go up, down, forward and backward by consumption of little energy and by using effective air strokes. They have unique and much balanced Flight. They can cover distance with speed of 35 miles per hour. Its exceptional wings beating speed is 30 times per second.
3. Graduated Predictors
We are Omnivores but Dragonflies are Carnivores. They get their feed by eating mosquitoes. They can prey their favourite diet with 95% precision. Hence, Scientific Research named them as the most Efficient Predator as well as Skilled Hunters.
4. 360° Vision
Dragonflies have Compound eyes that have 30,000 Lenses while our eyes have two lens only. They can sense the movement in 360° and can prey mosquitos with little ease.
5. Water Dwellers
Female Dragonfly lay her eggs in water. These eggs developed into Larvae here and can spend several years. These Larvae take feed by eating small fish, tadpoles and other zooplanktons hence they are named as Water Dracula or Water Dwellers.
6. Color Variation
Dragonflies can vary their colours. As their adult life is short hence they can take as many colours as they want. They adult life started with dull colour but as they grow they turned into Iridescent Hues.
7. Biodiversity
There are around 5,000 dragonflies species around the world that vary in color, size and habitats.
Final Thoughts
Native American Tribes thinks that Dragonflies are the symbol of Swiftness and Activity. This insect embodies us with all Positivity and devoid of negativity. When we are courageous then we become familiar with our strength. We have strength that can make every impossible to possible. This spiritual insect is studied with great respect in Entomology.
