Is it possible for planets to orbit an object which seeks to destroy it.
Blanets are members of a Hypothetical class of exoplanets which are speculated to orbit Blackholes. In 2019, a team of Japanese Astronomers and Exoplanetologists theorised that planets could form near supermassive blackholes from the massive clouds of dust and gas contained in their vicinity, they theorised that there was a safe zone around a supermassive blackhole that could harbour thousands of Blanets in its orbit.
The team led by Keichii Wada of Kagoshima University fused the words Blackholes and Planets to come up with the word Blanets.
The formation of Blanets is hypothesised to be very similar to that of normal planets, they are formed in accretion discs at the outermost part of the Blackholes. To avoid destruction, Blanets would have to be formed at least hundred trillion miles from the Event Horizon(centre) of the Blackhole.
A Blanet would only have a very minute window of time to form, it can only form during the existence of an Active Galactic Nuclei(AGN) ;a compact region at the centre of a galaxy that emits a large amount of energy across the electromagnetic spectrum, this is speculated to be around a hundred million years.
Blanets are speculated to be three thousand times bigger than our home Planet because of the AGN. Because of the conditions under which they are formed, it is impossible for a Blanet to be a Gas Giant like Neptune and Jupiter.
In the movie Interstellar , there are two featured Blanets and also in the series Doctor Who, two episodes talk about a barren Blanet called Krop Tor, orbiting a blackhole called K37 Gem5.

A possible real life Planet is the extra galactic planet M51-ULS-1b located around 23 million lightyears form earth in the Whirlpool Galaxy.
For now, Blanets are a complete hypothesis, but the bone of contention is the possibiltiy of existence of life on such Planets.
