A few days ago I started having burning sensation while urinating. I had not gone to the doctor yet. After that I started urinating frequently. It was very annoying. After a couple of days I developed a mild fever. I didn't realize that I was suffering from UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). I quickly went to my nearest doctor and he prescribed a medicine made of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim.
I had suffered from UTI before. The doctor had prescribed me a very expensive drug. It was Cefuroxime, a very effective drug. But now I am taking trimethoprim. Will it really work? UTI is more common in women because their urethra is shorter. According to a survey, 50-60% of women have UTI.
When I reached the doctor, he listened to everything and asked me to do a urine test. I gave his assistant some urine sample in a test tube. After waiting for half an hour he gave me the report. I noticed in it that my pus cells were 5-6% in my urine. I went to the doctor and showed the report, he wrote a prescription. If you have UTI, the doctor will confirm by doing a urine test whether you really have UTI or not. This is how UTI is diagnosed.
The combination of Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim is widely used in the treatment of UTI. It is also used in cases of middle ear infections, bronchitis, etc. At first I thought that this cheap medicine would not work well but my thoughts changed. Sulfamethoxazole is also known and effective as a fungicide. Along with bacteria, fungi settle in the urinary tract. Therefore, the combination of Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim is an excellent antibiotic to eliminate both bacterial and fungal strains. After taking this medicine, I have recovered a lot. If you have a UTI, do not waste time and go to the doctor quickly. Otherwise, the infection will spread further and damage the kidneys. Apart from that, you will have to endure a lot of pain. You should not keep the disease. Get a urine test done at least once a year. Do not self-medicate, as it can have the opposite result. Consult a doctor before taking any medicine.
