Hello to everyone in the Hive Pets community! Today I'm joining today to share with you about my dog Brandy and my kitty Kira, who are the longest living pets in the house. That's why, to a certain extent, they are the ones who set a bit of an example at home, as the younger ones are always looking to imitate the older ones. I don't know if it's a question of hierarchy, survival or if it has more to do with the fact that I have also tried to raise them with a certain respect for each other. In any case, we also try to ensure that both Kira and Brandy have more specific care.
For example, Brandy recently, at the beginning of the year, had an operation for mammary tumours that were found last year. So although she is no longer in any danger from that, it is true that she is a little more prone to illness if she is not looked after. She is about to turn 9 years old, so she is a grandmother and you can see that she has changed: her fur has turned white, she has less energy when playing, she sleeps much more than before, she looks for more comfortable places and avoids being alone. Despite all this, Brandy is a good-natured dog and I have never seen her "die", even in delicate moments (such as recovering from surgery). She always has a great attitude.
Regarding Kira, she is a few years younger than Brandy. She is 3 years old but she will soon be 4 years old. So far Kira has never seemed to have any illness, in fact she is quite healthy so her kittens have also turned out to be healthy. What Kira and Brandy have in common, apart from their longevity, is that they are also mothers and that sets a precedent. Kira also needs to be spayed, to avoid future problems like Brandy had because she was not spayed in time. I think the message behind it all is that older pets require more attention. Their health and let's say, their possibility to have a long life (happy, healthy and optimal), is a reflection of the care we give to our pets. That's why prevention is important. ¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Hive Pets! Hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes sobre mi perrita Brandy y mi gatita Kira, quienes son las mascotas más longevas de la casa. Es por eso que, en cierta medida, ellas son quienes dan un poco el ejemplo en el hogar ya que los más jóvenes siempre buscan imitar a los más grandes. No sé si es por cuestión de jerarquía, supervivencia o el caso tiene que ver más con el hecho de que también yo los he tratado de criar con cierto respeto de él uno por el otro. En todo caso, buscamos también que tanto Kira como Brandy tengan un cuidado más específico.
Por ejemplo, Brandy hace poco, a comienzos de año fue operada por unos tumores mamarios que fueron encontrados el año pasado. Por lo que aunque ella ya no corre peligro alguno por eso, si que es cierto que es un poco más propensa a padecer alguna enfermedad si no se le tiene cuidado. Ya va a cumplir 9 años, así que es toda una abuelita y se nota que ha cambiado: su pelo se ha vuelto blanco, tiene menos energía al jugar, duerme mucho más que antes, busca lugares más cómodos y evita estar sola. Con todo eso, Brandy es una perrita de buen animo y nunca he visto que ella se "eche a morir", incluso en momentos delicados (cómo la recuperación de la operación). Siempre tiene una gran actitud.
Con respecto a Kira, ella es unos años más joven que Brandy. Tiene 3 años pero dentro de poco cumplirá los 4 años. Por los momentos Kira nunca ha parecido de ninguna enfermedad, en realidad es bastante saludable por lo que sus gatitos también resultaron sanos. Lo que tienen en común Kira y Brandy, además de la longevidad, es que también son madres y eso deja un precedente. Kira también necesita ser esterilizada, para evitar futuros problemas cómo los tuvo Brandy por no haber sido esterilizada a tiempo. Creo que el mensaje detrás de todo es que, las mascotas mayores requieren mayor atención. Su salud y digamos, posibilidad de tener una larga vida (alegre, sana y óptima), es un reflejo del cuidado que le damos a nuestras mascotas. Por eso prevenir es importante.
