OK, so sadly, it turns out that because of our proximity to Blouberg road, we don't qualify to adopt through an agency. šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”
Look. I get it. And it's how we lost both Chai and Mittens. I feel like a terrible parent.

That cat shaped hole is still aching... They were both so damn young man. A year apart.. Both boys and both one year old.
Our two older girls are not interested in the road at all. They don't like cars and prefer to roof hop and get snacks from our surrounding neighbours. (we've received calls.. Many times asking if we minded if they got an extra snack and if they still had a safe home to come home to: clear from their well fed tummiesšŸ¤£šŸ¤£).

All our cats are well cared for, vaccinated, microchipped, collared, sterilized, and loved like our own children.

Wait... Let me clarify... Before someone calls child services: we don't microchip and sterilize our human children šŸ¤£šŸ¤£
BUT really... I wish I could turn back the clock and save our boys.
Before you judge... And I've had a lot of this...
I don't believe in indoor cats. It's fine if you live on your own or with your partner and you have one pedegree cat, but when you have kids, and cats that have been allowed out their whole lives, it just doesn't work.

The whole' keep them inside' thing is a great concept, but EVEN with the stabbing pain of loss, there are no regrets as I watched all my cats learn to climb trees, chase crickets, roll around in the grass and sleep on the warm bricks in the summer sun. If I could put a net around my house, I would.
This is the tragedy and the joy of being a cat mom.
Unlike with dogs...
Cats can leave us anytime.
And that means every cuddle, every purr, and every time they jump home through the window is a blessing.

If anyone knows of a lazy-ass, recently abandoned, older, perhaps even "special needs" kitty who's not a wonderer and cares more about food and love than anything else, we have a space in our home.

I miss the boys as well... For now... I am just going to spoil the girls as much as possible.

I love you.
