Bocola - Life of a Spanish shelter kitten 03

in #hive-196708last year

Hello kittenfriend,

Maybe you noticed in one of the previous posts that Bocola has a very short tail. Nothing happened to him, he was born this way. His mother has the same short tail and his siter has a normal tail. The reason behind the tail is a gen. One of his ancestors was a Manx or Bobtail cat. The gen that is responsible for the short tail is quite dominant. Officially it's called "stumpy". And indeed, when i scan pictures or videos through the app CatScan it comes up that he has some Manx blood. We think it's very cute and we can't imagine him with a normal tail.

I'm so cute!

I got a lot of answers about his tail because not many people know the Manx story. This makes him unique to us. And I also think that the change that people would adopt him is rather small. Most people think there's something wrong with him and will go for a "perfect" kitten.
Cats normally use their tail for balance and I was a bit worried about this. But we quickly discovered it doesn't have any impact on him. He can play and jump around like a normal kitten.

Stay paw-sitive! 😽
