We were concerned recently when our Lil Guy would not stop licking his paws. The hubby read from some forums that applying coconut oil can help so we tried but he seemed to love the scent and taste of the freshly made oil he became even more aggressive in licking.
We didn't know what to do next so we shaved his paws suspecting the thick fur might be hiding something else. But they are clean and there are no rashes or signs of infection yet he continued to lick on them, especially during the daytime. Additionally, his feet are often cold which made me regret trimming them.

So we brought him to the vet and had him checked. He was declared healthy but was given multivitamins anyway for additional protection.
"Any thoughts on possible causes or reasons why he licks his paws often these days?" I asked the amiable vet not wanting to leave the clinic unsatisfied. She stated our Lil Guy might just be bored or stressed, and licking is his way of keeping himself entertained. Hmmm... Maybe she was right since our fur baby has not had much outdoor playtime with the wet weather and such.
Last week, the husband came across a suggested effective solution for the problem. It said pet socks might do the trick.
Oh, really?
We raised eyebrows, to be honest. My sister laughed at the thought of it. The Farmboy and I were adamant but decided to try it out. Setting aside our second thoughts, we bought Yongi his first sets and had him wear them in the daytime.

And guess what?
It might sound funny or unbelievable but it works! It's only been 3 days since we started the experiment and the licking has been under control.
And he would not even take the socks off. He can easily pull them off his feet, like how he takes his shirt off when he isn't into wearing any. But with him keeping them on, we believe he likes them a lot! Perhaps they are comfortable and they keep his paws warm.
Maybe...
Although unsure, we are thrilled and thankful the lil trick works!
