We ❤️ Dogs

Hello Hivers!

Time flies quickly. As almost half of the year is gone and we are still facing a health menace that we can't seem to get rid of. Here in the Philippines, we also have elections on Monday, which will decide who will lead the country during this difficult situation.

Because of the extreme scenario, most people find it more difficult economically in an already hostile situation. Poverty is everywhere and it is evident with how people treat their pets.

Serendipitous Event

We have a couple of dogs that we take care of and cherish. I know that they appreciate what we do for them too. Especially my wife who loves buying stuff for our pets.

Thank you for taking care of us, hooman!

In an out-of-town trip the other day, my better half had to purchase some items at a small grocery store they had found in the area they were working in. Upon inspecting drums they will be using to store water, she noticed that there was a small dog hiding behind the drums. She asked the store owner if she owned the dog who replied that she was not the owner. She then shooed away the mutt who looked hungry and tired. It's easy to tell that the dog needed some medical attention as well.

Long story short, she took home the mutt after asking permission from the store owner who said she did not own the stinky dog.

Good dog! Seems to me like the dog had an owner but decided to abandon it or threw it away when it got old and sick.

Moving Forward

We were planning to bring it to the pet clinic but had a couple of errands to finish up so the vet schedule might be on Tuesday. Anyway, we put it in the backyard where it can rest and recover before it meets up with the neighborhood vet.

It has good appetite and drinks plenty of water so that is a good sign. It also seems to be adjusting already to the new environment. We have not yet allowed it with the other dogs until after it gets treated with the right medicine.

So, that's our short story about this unexpected but wonderful opportunity of doing something good for this dog who is nice, and seems well behaved enough to see that it is also longing for some affection and the basic necessities to live out its days in the world.

We will also ask the vet if it can determine how old it is or if it has a microchip implant (highly unlikely but we won't be surprised if it does have one).

That's it for now. Love and peace.

p.s. what should we name it? we have not yet decided but you can help us out if you have any good naming suggestion. :)

Thank you.

Wow, awesome job! I hope the doggo recovers soon. 🙏 Glad your wife found them. Btw, how many pets do you have at home? I have terrible naming sense so I won't make suggestions haha.

She's the 6th dog in the house. 😁 Thanks, Jazz. !PIZZA

Six?! Awesome. I assume many of those were rescued or adopted too?

Yeah. We did not "buy" any of our dogs; either they were given or found somewhere.

Poor dog. Is it a hairless dog or has it got mange?

Hey, @ellenripley. I don't think it's a hairless dog. Not sure if it is mange. We will find out from the vet what it is. Thanks for dropping by. Will give an update after we take it to the clinic. !PIZZA

Thank you. Hope he gets on ok.

We hope so too. 😊

As a fellow dog lover, I thank you for rescuing this poor dog 🥺

Hey, Sam. I'm really just a support person in this activity. My wife is the one who "rescue" dogs and cats. This poor fella seems to be responding well to being "rescued". Claimed our backyard as it's home already. We always have ample supply of dextrose powder for the dogs, in case it is needed, so we gave it already to help in re-hydration. Thanks for dropping by. !PIZZA
