I want to tell you about something that unfortunately happened to my dog. And I hope to find help to finish paying for his treatment.
Quiero contarles algo que le lamentablemente le pasó a mi perro. Hace unos meses tuve la oportunidad de presentarlo en esta comunidad (https://peakd.com/hive-196708/@leansorribas/meet-a-family-member-neon-les-presento-a-un-miembro-de-la-familia-neon). Y espero encontrar ayuda para terminar de pagar su tratamiento.
A few days ago my dog was acting strange. He didn't have the same energy, the same hyperactivity and he seemed a bit tired and droopy. Besides, sometimes he was shivering as if he was cold and could not lie down (I guess because of the pain). Then we noticed a big wound on his neck due to a big infection.
Hace unos días mi perro actuaba raro. No tenía la misma energía, la misma hiperactividad y se notaba algo cansado y caído. Aparte que en ocasiones temblaba como si tuviera frío y no podía acostarse (supongo que por el dolor). Luego notamos una gran herida en el cuello producto de una infección bastante grande.
Unfortunately, we didn't notice it before because of his big fur. And since it's getting very cold in this part of the world, it's not wise to leave him bald. It would take away his coat and protection.
Lamentablemente, no nos dimos cuenta antes a causa de su gran pelaje. Y como en esta parte del mundo está haciendo mucho frío, no es prudente dejarlo pelado. Le quitaríamos abrigo y protección.
Obviously, we decided to take him to the vet as soon as we noticed the problem. It was a very unpleasant moment. Holding him tightly, while the vet checked him. Once he was immobilized, I could see the infection very clearly. It was a huge wound that occupied a large part of the neck. At that moment I felt guilty for taking him earlier.
Obviamente, decidimos llevarlo al veterinario, apenas notamos el problema. Fue un momento muy poco agradable. Agarrarlo con fuerza, mientras el veterinario lo revisaba. Una vez inmovilizado pude ver con total claridad la infección. Era una herida enorme que ocupaba una gran parte del cuello. En ese momento me sentí culpable por llevarlo antes.
The vet decided that the best thing to do was to give him an injection of penicillin and let it act for a few days. Next week we will have to come back to see how he reacts to the treatment. Depending on how it evolves, it will be one medicine or another. In the worst case, he will have to be given corticoids.
El veterinario decidió que lo mejor era darle una inyección de penicilina y dejar actuar unos días. La semana que viene tendremos que volver para ver como reacciona al tratamiento. Dependiendo de como evolucione, será un medicamento u otro. En el peor de los casos, le tendrán que dar corticoides.
Anyway, it's a matter of waiting for next week and in the meantime he told us to wash the wound 2 times a day with a special soap. This became extremely complicated. My dog is not aggressive, but very nervous. It is impossible to clean it without him trying to bite.
En fin, es cuestión de esperar a la semana que viene y mientras tanto nos dijo que hay que lavar la herida 2 veces por día con un jabón especial. Esto se volvió extremadamente complicado. Mi perro no es agresivo, pero sí muy nervioso. Es imposible limpiarlo sin que intente morder.
Luckily I was able to pay for half of the treatment without any problems, but I don't know if I will be able to pay for the other half. That's why I plan to use the proceeds from this blog to cover the challenge of the expenses and if possible, buy a muzzle. That way I can wash him properly.
Por suerte pude pagar la mitad del tratamiento sin problemas, pero no sé si llegue a la otra mitad. Por eso pienso utilizar lo recaudado por este blog para cubrir el reto de los gastos y si es posible, comprar un bozal. Así lo puedo lavar como corresponde.
