Greetings to all the cute animal-loving people at #HivePets! I wish you all a great Wednesday! Today I want to tell you a little bit about Pegui-Pegui and how she has been adjusting to the family both with her siblings Drako and Yara and with us. Here is an update on her and her progress.

  Well as you can see she is happy that we adopted her. These pictures I present here were taken with her and my other two furry ones this morning, so they are fresh out of the oven.

  I'll tell you the short story of Pegui-Pegui, she is a stray dog that was abandoned by some people who rented the house behind mine. She suffered a lot of mistreatment, she was beaten, scolded, and locked up. She was never cared for or given love, the poor thing was also hungry, and well all this left consequences in her.

  She came to my house at the call and invitation of another stray dog that we feed from time to time. When I saw her, little by little she stayed in front of my house and one thing led to another. To tell the truth, when I saw how much she suffered I didn't have the heart to leave her out in the open.

  I was the one who wanted to adopt her from the beginning, she was so traumatized that she would walk away from us when we approached her with the food dish. We had to give her space for several days so that the trust between her and us could grow, but it still hasn't been enough.

  She is still adapting and yes, she has done very well, but some of her traumas still prevail and that makes her to be deprived of having healthy behavior with my other two furry babies. By this I mean that she is afraid to play with them, she hides or runs to get away, she doesn't know how to play with doggie toys, and for anything she throws herself on the floor, just as you see her, showing her tummy as if she were submissive.

  Since Sunday or Saturday I wanted to start putting her in the house permanently since she is smaller than Drako (the one in black) and Yara (the white one with brown), not by much, but there is a big difference between the three of them. Yara** is the biggest, then Drako* and finally Pegui-Pegui*.

  She prefers to sleep on the floor, she doesn't know a bed yet and for her it's strange, so I put some towels and a kind of padded sheet for her to sleep on. Every night I caress her before going to sleep and on one occasion, I did it late at night and fell asleep with my hand on her, Pegui woke me up by licking my hand, this was a unique gesture for me, and filled me with joy, it was the first time she licked my hand.

  She has had little gestures with me that give me to understanding that we are making progress in her adaptation, such as, for example, bringing her face close to my face and smelling me, gently biting my hand and the best of all is that she started playing with a little rag and she usually asks me to play with her too. As I said, these are little things that fill me with joy and of course, she is winning my heart more and more.

  On the other hand, Yara and Drako have been a bit suspicious with me for giving Pegui-Pegui "more attention". Another reason why I wanted to adopt her is so that she could keep me company for a longer period, since my current furry friends spend more time with my parents than with me, they only look to me to ask me to feed them or take them out to pee. Yara sleeps with me to give more comfort to my parents at night since she moves a lot and in my bed, as you can see, she has more space.

  And well, with Pegui not everything has been rosy. Just as he has his good things, he also has his bad things. Among them is the fact that she keeps running away when she can and she feels like it, she goes out to walk around the urbanization, to check the old house where she used to live and comes back, she sneaks back into the house by herself or sometimes you have to open the door for her to come in.

  I have also noticed that she is afraid of loud noises, especially thunder and lightning when it rains. And another bad habit she has is that when she runs away and sees a motorcycle passing by she barks at it, I'm terrified that a car will run over her. We have a neighbor who passes in front of the house at full speed with a 350 truck. That was another reason why I adopted her.

  The other thing I have noticed is that since she came to the house she has been shedding a yellow to transparent mucus from her intimate area, I don't know if it is due to an infection or her next period before her menstruation. I should also point out that she was mounted by several dogs before she was adopted by us, but she did not get pregnant. So I guess it must have been her first heat and she must not be a year old yet. The truth is, I am not sure, but I have the impression that she is also younger than Drako and Yara.

  She also scratches a lot and all the time, her paws, her back, her tail. She must have parasites, I know, but currently, I don't have the financial means to vaccinate and deworm her, nor to spay her (which I would love to do, to avoid hormonal dog fights). Therefore, I have not taken her to the vet to be checked and to be told more or less how old she is.

  Saludos a toda la gente linda amante de los animales en #HivePets! ¡les deseo a todos un excelente miércoles! Hoy quiero hablarles un poco de Pegui-Pegui y cómo ha sido su adaptación a la familia tanto con sus hermanos Drako y Yara como con nosotros. Aquí les actualizo todo lo referente a ella y su avance.

  Bueno como pueden ver se está feliz de que la adoptáramos. Estas fotos que les presento aquí me las tomé con ella y mis otros dos peludos esta mañana, así que están recién saliditas del horno.

  Les echo el cuento corto de Pegui-Pegui, ella es una perrita callejera que fue abandonada por una gente que alquiló la casa de atrás de la mía. Sufrió bastante maltrato, fue golpeada, regañada y encerrada. Nunca le hicieron cariño ni le dieron amor, la pobre también pasaba hambre y bueno todo esto dejó consecuencias en ella.

  Ella llegó a mi casa por llamado e invitación de otro perrito callejero al cual solemos alimentar de vez en cuando. Al verla pues, poco a poco se fue quedando al frente de mi casa y una cosa llevó a la otra. Yo la verdad, al ver lo mucho que sufrió no tuve corazón para dejarla a la intemperie.

  Quien quiso adoptarla desde un inicio fui yo, estaba tan traumada que se alejaba de uno cuando nos acercábamos con el plato de comida. Tuvimos varios días que darle su espacio para que fuera creciendo esa confianza entre ella y nosotros, pero aún no ha sido suficiente.

  Aun se sigue adaptando y si, lo ha hecho muy bien, pero prevalecen algunos de sus traumas y eso hace que se prive de tener un comportamiento saludable con mis otros dos nenes peludos. Con esto quiero decir que le da miedo jugar con ellos, se oculta o corre para alejarse, no sabe jugar con juguetes de perritos, y por cualquier cosa se echa al piso, así como la ven, mostrando su pancita como si fuera sumisa.

  Desde el domingo o el sábado quise empezar a meterla en la casa de forma permanente, ya que ella es más pequeña que Drako (el de negro) y Yara (la blanquita con marrón), no por mucho, pero si se nota gran diferencia entre los tres. Yara es la más grande, luego le sigue Drako y por último Pegui-Pegui.

  Ella prefiere dormir en el piso, aun no conoce una cama y para ella es extraño, así que le coloco unas toallas y una especie de sábana acolchada para que duerma en ella. Todas las noches le acaricio antes de dormir y en una ocasión, lo hice entrada la noche y me quedé dormida con la mano sobre ella, Pegui me despertó lamiendo mi mano, esto para mí fue un gesto único y me llenó de alegría, es la primera vez que me lame la mano.

  Ha tenido pequeños gestos conmigo que me dan a entender que vamos avanzando en su adaptación, como, por ejemplo, acercar su rostro a mi rostro y olerme, morder suavemente mi mano y lo mejor de todo es que se puso a jugar con un trapito y suele pedirme que juegue con ella también. Como dije, son pequeñas cosas que me llenan de alegría y por supuesto se va ganando más mi corazón.

  Por su parte, Yara y Drako se han mostrado un poco recelosos conmigo por darle "más atención" a Pegui-Pegui. Y es que otras de las razones por las cuales quise adoptarla es para que me hiciera compañía por más tiempo ya que mis actuales peludos se la pasan más pegados a mis padres que conmigo, a mí sólo me buscan para pedirme que les ponga la comida o los saque a hacer pipí. Yara duerme conmigo para darle más comodidad a mis padres por la noche ya que se mueve mucho y en mi cama como ven, tiene más espacio.

  Y bueno con Pegui no todo ha sido color de rosas. Así como tiene sus cosas buenas, también tiene sus cosas malas. Entre ellas está el hecho de que se sigue escapando cuando puede y tiene antojo, sale a recorrer la urbanización, a revisar la antigua casa donde vivía y regresa, a veces se mete sola de nuevo a la casa o a veces hay que abrirle la puerta para que entre.

  También me he dado cuenta que les tiene miedo a los ruidos fuertes, sobre todo a los truenos y relámpagos cuando llueve. Y bueno otra mala maña que tiene es que cuando se escapa y ve una moto pasando la persigue ladrando, a mí me da terror la verdad de que la pise un carro. Tenemos un vecino que pasa a toda velocidad frente a la casa con un camión 350. Esa fue otra de las razones por la cual la adopté.

  Lo otro que he notado es que desde que llegó a la casa está botando como un moco entre amarillo y transparente por su zona íntima, no sé qué será, si se debe a una infección o es por su próximo periodo antes de su menstruación. Debo destacar también que a ella la montaron varios perros antes de ser adoptada por nosotros, pero no quedó preñada. Por lo que calculo que debió ser su primer celo y aun no debe tener el año de vida. La verdad, no estoy segura, pero me da la impresión de que ella es más pequeña también en edad que Drako y Yara.

  También se rasca mucho y a cada rato, las patitas, el lomo, la colita. Debe tener parásitos, lo sé, pero actualmente no tengo los medios económicos para vacunarla y desparasitarla, tampoco para esterilizarla (lo que me encantaría, para evitar peleas hormonales de perros). Por lo tanto, no la he llevado al veterinario a que la chequeen y me digan más o menos qué edad tiene.
