Hello Guys!
Months ago, on my way to the grocery store, I found a kitten wet in the rain. In fact, the kittens lived with their mother and siblings in a woman's garden. That woman is the most ruthless person in the neighborhood. To get rid of the kitten, he threw it on the side of the road. Children have seen this with their own eyes. When I found him, the children around him were trying to feed him. When I saw him like that, I couldn't stand it and brought him home. Of course, I searched for his mother for days, but I couldn't find her.
I wanted to be a temporary home for the kitten I brought home until I did the health checks and recovered. This was because my big cat at home was scared and aggressive towards other animals and people. My old cat constantly attacked and hissed at me for a month because of the kitten I brought home. Those were the times when we had difficulties as a family. We had to constantly protect and watch over the kitten.
I can't understand how a person can be evil towards this innocent animal. Such unscrupulousness, especially towards a baby animal, is not something I can accept. Regardless, that kitten could stay in her garden with her siblings and mother until she grew up. Throwing him where the cars will run over him is unscrupulous. They would have left that garden when they had grown up anyway. Anyway, I don't want to remember those unfortunate moments.
We were constantly attentive when the kitten was in the house. Despite being so careful, my big cat once grabbed her and scratched her face. We were all very scared, luckily it didn't do too much damage. Even after a few months, the atmosphere was still very tense. Finally, I gave up and took the cat to my friend for adoption. I got so used to it that I didn't want to leave it there. I couldn't leave it there anyway! That day I made the decision to let him live with us. Even if it was difficult, I wanted to achieve this and make her a member of my house.
After long and patient months, they are now getting used to each other. You should give the cats time during this process. I've never forced either of them to do this. I let them hang out in separate rooms. My big cat used to watch from the door of the room at first, never going in. Over time, he began to enter the room and smell the surroundings. It went on like this for a while. I started playing them side by side and giving their meals side by side to get them used to each other.
This is how I caught them in my bedroom one day. It was the first time they had gotten this close. That day my despair was over. I was sure they would get used to each other. I just had to wait patiently.
After that, they started to come into contact with each other. My big cat adopted the kitten as time passed. She wasn't attacking him as much as before.
Now everything is reversed. Now my kitten has started hitting my big cat. I think the reason for this is that he ate paw from my big cat for the first time. I think he got his revenge now for that paw he ate. :) Don't be fooled by how cute and innocent he looks. There's a whole tiger inside.
She's a total naughty! She is constantly harassing my big cat. :) Sometimes she hits my big cat suddenly and runs away. Actually, it's not meant to hurt. She wants to play games and release her energy. Fortunately, my big cat is now patiently ignoring the kitten. There is no tension between them as before. Only at some moments there can be paw fights. But it happens in a gentle way.
This usually happens in a ground fight. I have prepared separate places for the two of them in front of the window, but they stubbornly want to sleep in one bed. Yesterday they both had a little argument over the bed in front of the window. However, since neither of them gave up on the bed, they made peace and slept together. I think I have two stubborn cats. :)
Sometimes they give this fight just to sleep in my lap. I would like to enjoy the evenings by opening Netflix. When they see me lying down, they both immediately run to my lap. There is some stubbornness and eventually they sleep together.
The best times they get along are when they're both hungry. At mealtime, they kiss each other and expect me to serve food. This is because I brought them closer together with food in the first place. I wanted good things to be etched into the minds of both of them at mealtime. I think I accomplished that. Whenever they want to eat, they get along very well with each other.
Little advice for those who want to get two cats used to each other;
Take the newly arrived cat to a separate room first.
Give them time to get used to it. Never force them into this.
Do not interfere as long as they do not cause great harm to each other. When you intervene, you cannot maintain the balance.
Do not shout in moments of argument, observe. The moment you shout, your cat becomes even more aggressive and psychologically affected.
Battles are based on hierarchical establishment. Let the house cat dominate the new cat. Because of the cat you brought home, he will already be stressed enough. There will be a lot of stress when you get angry with your cat and get ahead of it to protect the kitten. I observed the cats from afar unless there were major fights.
Change the places of the cats you put in separate rooms. I put them in separate rooms. A few days later I moved rooms. In this way, I got them used to each other's smell.
Reward them every time they come together. This way, they will know that they are rewarded when they are together. I put the food containers close together without forcing them and let them eat together. If they don't want to eat together, don't force it.
Finally, be PATIENT! The most important thing for you is to be patient. I was so hopeless at first that I thought they would never get used to it. It was written on the Internet that they got used to it in a week at most, and I struggled for months. But in the end, I achieved my goal.
Cats don't always get along with each other. Especially if one of the cats is old. Older cats spend most of the day lying down and sleeping. As they reach a certain age, they may even experience joint pain. On the contrary, the kitten wants to play all the time. Sometimes there are fights because of this. When the big cat doesn't want to play, it can kick the kitten away.
For example, my cat is 9 years old, which means 52 years old in human age. As a 52-year-old person feels, so does my cat. Actually, I can perfectly understand why you fired the kitten. He doesn't like very active games because he can't run as much as he used to. Sometimes if the kitten comes to him for an active game, he politely dismisses it.
I hope I can help you with this article. Take good care of yourself until we meet again.
My cats greet you.
love.
