12 years ago, I received the best gift ever - my dog, my love, my treasure. She has made my life easier in countless ways. Whenever I've needed a shoulder to cry on, she's been there. Her eyes can sense when I'm not having a good day or when I'm unwell, and she'll lay by my side. It's impossible to argue with my husband because she intervenes, barking at whoever raises their voice and offering comfort to the calmer one. She's truly a peacemaker.
What surprises me the most is her response during my epileptic seizures. She stays by my side, watching over me until it passes. Once, my husband filmed me during a seizure and I saw her sad eyes, never leaving my side. She even alerts my husband if I have a seizure when he's asleep, barking to wake him. She's my guardian angel.
I never realized the joy a dog could bring until she came into my life. She's the one who shows genuine emotions, her happiness evident when I return home.
However, recently she fell ill. While we were on vacation, she developed unusual scratching and scabs under her fur.
After two weeks of antibiotics, her condition did get better. But a few days later, she started scratching again. She didn't eat much, could barely move, and didn't even want to go for walks. Since it was hard to see under her fur, we shaved her. What we saw shocked us. We spent over two thousand euros at the vet for pills, exams, creams, and blood tests. But her condition kept worsening. It seemed like allergies were the culprit. The blood tests showed she wasn't allergic to mites, but they didn't check for other allergies. So, she kept eating regular food, but her appetite decreased. I had enough. Even though Austrian vets had helped before, this time it felt strange. Despite the treatments, her condition worsened whenever she stopped taking the pills.
It took going back to a vet in Slovenia to get a proper diagnosis: severe allergies to almost everything. It was a shock, considering she'd never had allergy issues before. Now, her diet consists of cooked food, avoiding all allergens. It's costly, but seeing her health improve is worth every penny. She's regained her energy, appetite, and playful spirit.
We now spend more on her food than on ourselves 😂 but it's a small price to pay for her well-being. She's not just a pet; she's family. Her presence fills our home with love and joy, reminding us of the precious bond we share.
Our dog, our faithful companion, has been by our side through thick and thin, a constant source of comfort and companionship.
As the years passed, she grew from a playful puppy into a wise and gentle soul, her eyes reflecting the depth of her understanding and affection. She has seen us through our happiest moments and our most challenging times, never wavering in her devotion.
Her presence has filled our home with warmth and laughter, her wagging tail and eager cuddles melting away any worries or troubles. Whether it's a quiet evening at home or an adventure in the great outdoors, she is always there, reminding us of the simple joys in life.
Now, as she reaches the grand age of twelve, each moment spent with her feels even more precious. Every wag of her tail is a reminder of the countless memories we've shared and the bond that we will always cherish.
Our dog may be twelve years old, but to us, she is timeless - a beloved member of our family whose love knows no bounds. Here's to many more years of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments with our loyal companion.
