Hello everyone, greetings and happy new month!
Nature is a free gift given for man's satisfaction. Without our natural environment, man would not thrive. Science teaches that every species adapt to a particular environment favourable to its kind. For instance, fish live in water, monkeys on trees, rats in holes and so many more. The environment plays a major role in the successful habitation of all living things.
Now over the years, diverse technological advancemants and inventions have been discovered to make man's work easier and faster but alas, these inventions came at a price...*the damage to our natural environment". Most of these inventions and machines which have seemingly made life easier and better for us, harm the ecosystem. The felling of trees to build houses, the improper dumping of refuse on land and waters, the release of carbon fumes from car exhaust and industrial chimneys and all other forms of pollution are factors that cause harm to our environment. If nature had a voice, I bet it would be wailing like a woman bereft of her children but still nature expresses its pain through the many cracks in its system.
How do we save our environment.
In order to save our environment and prevent a total degradation of nature, some good and quick actions need to be taken. I will share my opinion below;
- Curb environmental pollution as much as possible.
This is so important because pollution is a major destroyer of the environment. We can learn better ways of dumping our wastes without it destroying our environment. Wastes like broken bottles and cans should be buried deep within the soil. Sewage and industrial wastes should not be dumped anyhow rather they can be treated and made biodegradable before they are dumped in seas or wastelands.
- Go green
This is just a fancy word for plant more trees. Trees are very beneficial to life as they exchange the carbon(iv) oxide in the environment while giving back oxygen to the environment, the very air that we need for survival. Planting trees can also be a source of replenishment for the ones which have been cut down for industrial purposes. Trees can also serve as shades during hot weather and as wind breakers.
- Keep your environment clean
We live in a world where some people wait on others to do their work for them. If we are to save our environment, we need to put in the work ourselves. If we don't take care of environment, who will? Have a day or two set aside for clean-ups, don't throw the satchet of the snacks or the peels of the fruits you eat on the ground carelessly, rather throw them in a bin.
- Reduce,Reuse and Recycle
This three words are very important if we want to aave our environment. Don't be quick to throw away stuff rather see how you can make use of them in a useful way. Those chocolate containers and beverage tins can be used for storing household items. Plastic bottles could be used for something useful in the home. Also some counteies have recycling centers where unwanted things can be sent to and the recycle center would do the work of recycling those unwanted items into new useable things.
- Industries can be situated far from residential areas and their wastes especially the toxic ones should be biochemically treated to make them harmless before they are sumped anywhere.
