On the morning of Eid, we all wake up early to get ready for the special prayers. My husband go to the mosque, while the rest of us prepare at home. After the prayers, we gather for the Qurbani (sacrifice).

The act of sacrifice is a sacred ritual for us. It commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in the Christian tradition). According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim was commanded by Allah (God) in a dream to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (Ishmael). Showing unwavering faith and obedience to Allah, Ibrahim prepared to fulfill this command. However, at the last moment, Allah intervened and provided a sheep to sacrifice instead, as a reward for Ibrahim’s devotion and faith. This act symbolizes submission to the will of Allah and is a key aspect of Eid ul Adha.

Following the Qurbani, the meat is divided into three parts – one for ourselves, one for relatives and friends, and one for those in need, poor. It is distributed among the poor so that no one goes to bed hungry. We are prepare delicious dishes. Our family's special biryani and sheer khurma are the highlights of the day. Everyone sits together to enjoy the feast and celebrate the joy of the festival.

Our home is filled with guests throughout the day. Relatives, friends, and neighbors come over, and we exchange Eid greetings, hugs, and sweets. It's a time for catching up with old friends and forming new bonds. For the children, this day is particularly special because they receive Eidi (gifts and money).

In our family, Eid ul Adha is more than just a religious festival. It is a time when we take a break from our busy lives to be with our loved ones. Through this festival, we strengthen our relationships and experience a sense of unity with our community.

Eid ul Adha is not only a religious celebration for our family but also an opportunity to come together, strengthen our bonds, and share the joy with our community. The memories we create on this day are among the happiest moments of our lives, and we eagerly look forward to this festival every year.
