Sometimes I randomly imagine how our lives will be if there is no such thing as 'free time'. If we had to be busy with something every second of our lives. That is quite impossible because we're humans, not robots, even robots can break down when they over work. Free time is such a wonderful thing because, it's a time to worry less about things, a time to unwind and distract one's self from the cares of life, a time to just sit around and feel some calm and possibly have fun too.
My idea of unwinding in my free time is watching movies. I just love the feeling of escaping from reality in those moments. I can sit for hours and watch several movies simultaneously. It can be worse when I'm watching with other people, I may not even remember to do other important things, I just want to get lost in the cinematic world just for that moment. I knew times when I never missed an episode of my favorite K-dramas, I would always look forward to seeing another episode even when I'm still on one. Whenever I hear that a second part of a very interesting movie is coming back to the screens, my excitement triples.
Asides watching movies, books are another great free time option. Especially when my battery is really low that I can't watch any movie. I love reading books, both the ones that just tells stories or intentional ones, the ones I can pick a lesson or two from. There's something really beautiful about reading books, the way you subconsciously gather knowledge. You might not even know how much you know about a lot of things until you start talking.
Not so long ago,I started this course in mobile app development and it's been a crazy ride since then. I don't even feel like I have a free time anymore because there's something always going on. As a newbie, I have to read a lot to be able to understand the concept of the course. At first it felt like it was never going to happen no matter how much I read. It's like taking someone to an entirely different country and making the person start afresh. Most times,I don't even understand what I read but I just kept reading and it's so satisfying when I finally get the sense of the whole thing.
Now that I can't watch movies so much, I channel the energy into doing something more productive. I've been on YouTube a lot after I started my course and I've been watching a lot of tutorials on the programming language,Dart. It's the primary language used by Flutter developers to build apps using the flutter framework. It's very exciting learning new things, especially when you're getting the sense of what you're learning. In the little time I have nowadays, I just go to YouTube and see what I can find that can be of assistance to my learning and I stay right there.
Homeworks also makes it to the list of things I do with my free time recently. My tutor is always giving us assessments to help us grow in our knowledge, sometimes I get it right and other times I don't. It can be really tiring especially when I've written one or two codes and the bugs come creeping out of nowhere and refuses to go away no matter what I do. At this point,I need a distraction, maybe go outside and enjoy the view or even play one movie. The thing is, I don't always get to watch for so long before it suddenly dawns on me why the bugs are still there. Instant inspiration and there I am back on the screen to do things right.
