Currently, I have two sources of income. The first one is blogging on Hive which I have been doing for over 3 years now and has been one that I have been surviving with. Aside from it being a platform that has improved my writing skills and to meet beautiful people, not from my country alone, it has helped to settle many of my bills so that I don't need to rely on or depend on anyone for survival even in my family.
I am not the only member in the family earning as I have my siblings who are earning also and taking care of themselves and others in the family. We always come together to contribute for the family upkeep and making sure no one is finding it hard to raise any fund and the decision has been so easier without adding any heavy load on us.
So far, I would say Hive has been a permanent source of income to me which has greatly impacted my lifestyle too. With the money I get from it, I can settle bills, meet my family's needs and also cater for those around me who need my help.
Blogging is something I can do from anywhere instead of going out like someone going to the office every morning. With my smartphone/laptop and a stable network, I work from anywhere and get paid. I have earned a lot since my over 3 years on this platform and still doing so today.
The second source of income which I wouldn't want to call permanent but temporary because it's a service to my fatherland where I serve as a teacher in a government secondary school and get paid a monthly allowance for a year. I will be finishing my service in October which means the allowance will stop too until I get a permanent job as a teacher which would continue to complement my blogging on the Hive platform.
When I was posted for my service some months ago, I was so excited because it would also support my earnings from Hive for someone who doesn't like withdrawing a lot of time because of my needs, I decided to only manage the monthly allowance I get from the government while saving more and growing my account. It has been working well so far and I saw myself not withdrawing or powering down as often as before.
The little I get every month for my service has helped to meet and sort my expenses and also helped me save more using two apps that I get daily interest from them.
By October, it would be me fully relying on Hive as my source of income while also making efforts to get a job and then, Hive will be my side hustle while the other would be the main one which would help me attend to needs while making sure the journey of my financial independence is still in process.
