PRESERVING OUR ENVIRONMENT

in #hive-197685yesterday

It's so hot here, where I live. From morning through to evenings, when it should at least be fairly cool, it would be so hot. It is a nightmare to sleep without the fans or air conditioning turned on.

Back at my parents' house, it is different. It's so chilly there that even during the day, sometimes, I have to keep the windows closed so I don't catch a cold.

The difference between these two locations, which by the way are situated in the same state, is vegetation.

While there are almost no trees around here, because there's the constant craze to erect buildings, the air around is becoming very humid and thick as the factors that aid respiration are constantly being depleted.
There's the issues of exhaust fumes and poisonous smoke from faulty vehicles and industries, there improper waste disposal issues and all of these other pollution elects but for this article, I'd focus on just two of these ills.

Long before, I used to dislike having trees around the house. It made me feel that I was in a rural, primitive setting/location even though I evidently wasn't. It took growing older, learning, and experiencing firsthand the effects of these disorders to understand why we need to protect what we have.

Nature is beautiful. Nature is beneficial.
When we protect and care for natural elements, we are also showing ourselves care. Because, when harm occurs to our environment, one way or another, we get affected.

The state I live in is one that houses a number of oil manufacturing companies, and too, it's a riverine state. Need I mention that it is known for the beautiful rivers and produces(fish) in the rivers. Unfortunately, from when I was a child who saw how flourishing this aspect was and until now, a huge change has happened. Decadence happened. The waters barely have fishes. They're polluted. Waste from the oil companies runs directly into the water, making it unclean, reducing the oxygen/breeding levels of inhabitants, thus eliminating aquatic life. It's all filthy now, and the few fishes gotten now no longer grow to the size that they used to years back. Some of the aquatic lives even die and are brought up to the float on the water, which is a terrible sight.

These wrongs affect the ecosystem. They affect us. In my opinion, the best way that we can protect these water bodies is for the companies to first look for a better method to channel their waste rather than into water. It's important that this other method doesn't cause some other type of pollution. Even dumping refuse into the water bodies should be stopped. Its filthy and very harmful.

Also, I encourage planting of trees and less deforestation. We lose more when we don't do this. I can't stress the demerits much. But, for all our goods, it's important to protect our environment.

This is my participation in the Indiaunited Weekly Contest #24. You can check it here and also share your opinions. We'll be glad to read them.
