Hey Hive family how was the father's day celebration, celebrated in your country, state and village?
I'll be giving an account of how we celebrated our fathers over here in Uyo city of Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria.
A mini street by street carnival was hosted in honour and reference of our fathers, I mean life and procreation begins from them,so we had to make the carnival a colourful and enjoyable one, after we all went to church and came back, from the early hours of afternoon music was played, and decorations were made on each street, chairs and tables were set up, we had dancers and singers, all in their different colourful costumes, we had masquerades out in the streets, I mean what's a celebration without a touch of culture?
The masquerades performed their ancestral dance moves in honour of our fathers past, fathers present and fathers to come.
There was enough food for everybody, each family to their buffet, so many dishes of different kinds, I saw the always tasty Nigerian jollof rice, native soups of different kinds and I had the opportunity of tasting each and every one of them and they tasted very good.
The head of the fathers, who is also the royal head of Uyo came out to give a speech and also address the fathers,he said lots of things but I picked one of all he said, fathers this is another era of greatness,we won't only grow in family but will also advance in values and keeping a lasting legacy for our children,he said.
The royal head encouraged the fathers to improve in their duties as husbands, fathers, and brothers, after his speech he was escorted back to his seat by his entourage.
We saw different kinds of tribal attires, food and dance,we also heard music we never heard before, indeed it was a ceremony to hold on to,one to always remind us of the importance of fathers in the society at large and in the family at least.
I really learnt alot from the father's day celebration and I'm also anticipating the next fathers day celebration to come.
