dCity Progress Update #11

Introduction
Good day to everyone, a week had passed in the city and it's time to update the progress of my city and the things that happen in the city. In today's post, I will be sharing on the progress on the city and do a simple sharing for new players on crisis that can be encountered in the game and what we can do to reduce the impact.

What is dCity?
The game is a city simulator game based on Hive NFTs where one can create a city the way we want it to be. As players develop and grow their cities, optimization is needed in terms of buildings, city population, the income that the city yields and technological developments. While many aspects of the game can be calculated based on the simulator within the game, there is a portion of randomness in the form of crisis event which can bring different kind of impact to city which affects income or popularity. If you like the original SimCity, I am sure you will like this.

My City
The below screenshot is how my city looks like at this moment. No new additions this week and my city remained at 15 bubbles. Again this week, made some SIM income by selling a few young citizens and this essentially increased my SIM power which is something that I want to build on.

Unemployment remained at 4 pax, I put up a bid for barber shop in the market but unfortunately I was being outbid, so probably I need to withdraw my bid and buy if off the market so that I can keep my unemployed citizens occupied and do something good for the city.

Crisis
Now, if you've started playing dCity and start doing up your city correctly, you should be seeing some income and there will be some crisis event that randomly happen. And when such events happen, income gets affected in one way or another.

And these are stuff that can truly happen in a city in real life, which truly brings issues to the city if not handled properly.

The 6 crisis that can happen in dCity, namely:

Pandemy: 20% of population get sick, which translates to social support cost and reduce income
Fire: income reduction of 15%
Riot: income and popularity reduction of 15%
Economic Crisis: income reduced by half, one random technology branch get locked and needs to be restarted
Power Outage: income reduction by 25%
Natural Disaster: income reduction and popularity reduce by 15%

And they are denoted by the screenshot below and they can happen at the same time:

The craziest crisis to handle is economic crisis since it really creates a big problem to the income by the biggest amount and also resets one random technology branch. And if you're on the borderline of the leaderboard, you might encounter inability to claim young citizen when these crisis knock you out of top 400. So to cater to crisis, you either do crisis prevention or work on extra buffer for income to cater for these situations.

Crisis Prevention

Pandemy: Curb by the vaccines produced by Experimental Lab, one vaccine gives 10% chance of Pandemy prevention, use 10 to prevent Pandemy for a week.

Fire: Having a Fire Department reduces the income impact by 20 SIM (stackable)

Riot: Curb by Prepared Police produced by Police Academy, one Prepared Police give 10% chance of Riot prevention, use 10 to prevent Riot for a week.

Economic Crisis: Curb by Crisis Bond produced by Central Bank, one Crisis Bond give 10% chance of Economic Crisis prevention, use 10 to prevent Economic Crisis for a week.

Power Outage: Curb by Energy Reload produced by Power Distributor, one Energy Reload give 10% chance of Power Outage prevention, use 10 to prevent Power Outage for a week.

Natural Disaster: Act of God, cannot be prevented.

Do note, these mitigations might look very easy, but to get these buildings to produce these crisis items, it takes alot of building, so for a start, just prepare additional income to handle these crisis. Then as your city builds up, start building these crisis prevention items.

Current SIM Holdings
At the moment of writing, the current amount of SIM I am holding has reached 127,897 SIM. Quite a decent increase as I continue to increase the holdings because of young citizen sales.

Why Hold SIM?
This is reminder to all that holding SIM (or commonly known as SIM Power) brings about daily liquid hive if one having above 8000 SIM Power. SIM Power is calculated by the from the 30 days average SIM holdings.

With the increase in SIM in my Hive Engine, my 30 day average is will likely see a few days of Sim Power increase. Amount of liquid Hive per day based on current 30 day average is as seen below:

Assuming no increase in Sim Power, I will get 0.72 liquid Hive per month. The numbers continue to increase and building towards the goal I had for using the liquid Hive to fund for Hive Power Up Day. At this moment, it look a little far-fetch, however as I continue to grow, one day I know I will reach there.

Closing
The more I play, the more things I discover of the game. What I've experienced so far probably is just a small droplet in the ocean. Much more to explore and learn.
