Introduction
Good day to everyone, a week had passed in the city and it's time to update the progress of my city and the things that happen in the city. In today's post, I am so glad to have welcome 3 more new citizens to my city and I will talk more about it and also about Social Support.
What is dCity?
The game is a city simulator game based on Hive NFTs where one can create a city the way we want it to be. As players develop and grow their cities, optimization is needed in terms of buildings, city population, the income that the city yields and technological developments. While many aspects of the game can be calculated based on the simulator within the game, there is a portion of randomness in the form of crisis event which can bring different kind of impact to city which affects income or popularity. If you like the original SimCity, I am sure you will like this.
My City
The below screenshot is how my city looks like at this moment. My city have moved to 15 bubbles. In this week, I experienced 3 graduation and the outcome of the graduation is also something that I like. Right now I am having 16 young citizens waiting to become student and just recently one young citizen just started his student career. The new bubble that was added this week is a Scientist that was part of the graduation this week.
Unemployment at this moment is at 4 pax, so I will need to look into adding a new building to my city soon to utilize these workers so that they don't idle in the city.
Graduation
Been a while since I last saw graduation happening, this journey is really like a parent waiting for their children to grow up and enter the workforce.
This week, we welcome 3 new graduates into the workforce: 1 Scientist, 1 Soldier and 1 Eco-Activist.
If we look at the 3 new citizens, 2 of them gave me a negative impact on popularity but they brought about a total of 3 tax refund, which is very important. Scientist also brought about an increase in my education stat, which will improve my chances of technology discover when I start my research after getting a research centre. All 3 graduates are great additions and I am so glad to have them in my city.
Social Support
With the latest announcement from the developers, we are expecting changes to Social Support.
Social Support is the additional cost for supporting the city's citizens taken from the city's income, something like social welfare/social taxes. If one currently having high amount of card that require support, that amount is expected to increase significantly.
So if you are holding high amounts of such cards, it's time to plan for asset diversification before high social support cost hits you:
Young Citizens
Students
Sick citizens
Soldiers
Unemployed citizens
For me, I have quite a fair bit of Young Citizens because I want to wait for them to become students and finally evolved to full work adults. So with this in consideration, I potentially have to change the dynamics within the city else I will be feeding loads of high social support citizens which will significantly blow up my hard earned income. I think this change is likely to affect many people, so start early and make sure your city don't become a social support sink hole.
Current SIM Holdings
At the moment of writing, the current amount of SIM I am holding has reached 115,512 SIM. Quite a decent increase as I continue to increase the holdings.
Why Hold SIM?
This is reminder to all that holding SIM (or commonly known as SIM Power) brings about daily liquid hive if one having above 8000 SIM Power. SIM Power is calculated by the from the 30 days average SIM holdings.
With the increase in SIM in my Hive Engine, my 30 day average is will likely see a few days of Sim Power increase. Amount of liquid Hive per day based on current 30 day average is as seen below:
Assuming no increase in Sim Power, I will get 0.66 liquid Hive per month. The numbers continue to increase and building towards the goal I had for using the liquid Hive to fund for Hive Power Up Day. At this moment, it look a little far-fetch, however as I continue to grow, one day I know I will reach there.
Closing
It is so nice to see new graduates coming into the workforce and contributing to the city growth. However, we are expecting new changes to Social Support soon. With this, if you city is having a big chunk of citizens requiring Social Support, better start diversifying the assets to so that you won't be seeing big hit in your income when the changes take effect.
Special thanks to @ryosai for always answering my questions on the game, guiding me through with your patience and even helping me with my city growth.
Looking forward to the journey of growing the city!
