Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 32

Dear Reader, what is real to you?.

Is it what you see, what you can touch, what you know?

Are the numbers in your bank account real, or the golden ring around your finger?.

What is redoubtable real, and why? Because our eyes deceive us, our brain misleads us, and the bank is not holding all the cash they show in our bank accounts.

Reality is fragile, very fragile. It might just all be our imagination, one big matrix holding our essence. Making us think we have hands and feet while in reality when are slime snails in a state of trance.

I drink the first sips of water that tastes like water and soil. Then I try one of those dirty worms, it has no taste but is very tough. Every now and then a grain of sand crunches between my teeth, and I wash the bite away with more water.

This certainly wasn't the breakfast I had in mind, but I knew enough about medicinal plants to know what was going on here.

Our tribe's knowledge was limited to that which was useful for healing humans and animals, but we knew that some plants and roots had powers you weren't allowed to play with.

Mushrooms and lampreys were the ones that the traditions told about, but also that there were only minute differences between the deadly and the divine. That's why it was better not to use any, but apparently every tribe had their own rules and hopefully Sei knew the difference.

With difficulty, I chew the last tough mushroom and rinse it away with the last bit of water.

I breathe in relief, then I look up. Sei has been waiting for me for quite some time and immediately gets up while I am still busy pushing the remains through my esophagus.

"Sir is also ready, now hurry up because we don't have that long."

The last words come from the other side of the door while I'm still trying to get up.

As I descended the stairs my legs felt like they were starting to sleep, they were swaying and that was not exactly a safe feeling during this descent.

The steps were wide but the edge was always close, the strange thing is that I felt no fear and did not realize that I had already arrived at the bottom. My legs kept going but my thoughts could not be controlled.

The only thought that kept coming back was where is Sei, as if I'm afraid of losing her. When I think about losing her here now I get seriously scared, I don't understand why but something inside me tells me that I shouldn't let her out of my sight.

As if nothing is more important than following her. As I continue to follow her, I am distracted by a red glow that I see above the water out of the corner of my eye. But every time I look there's nothing.

My stomach starts to grumble but I ignore it, which is easy because everything around me demands my attention. The animals move more slowly, seem to be constantly watching me. As if they realize that I am not myself.

Sei is still a ways ahead of me and still has a good pace. I didn't know she knew this area, but I think I know where she's going. But I can't remember telling her about the cave where I waited the night of my earlier departure.

But before we reach the cave I see her sitting, back against one of the tallest trees I know in this area.

"Sit with me, just with your back against the tree, nothing special."

Nothing special. but just sitting down feels strange. My muscles are so loose as if they are liquid, but the moment I sit and my straight back is supported by the tree, I feel everything flowing out of me.

All the awkwardness, all the fears, and plans, as if they flow away and I am filled by a power I don't know. A force that I can only describe as the force of the earth, I feel one with this place, this ground.

It is as if I've always been here as if this is my place in the world this exact place. I feel such a strong connection to it.

"As if you are rooted to it," Sei giggles breaking the spell I was under.

"How do you know that?"

"Sweet old man, welcome to my wonderful world of the unseen. You just connected, and I am sure by now you know to whom or what you connected, don´t you."

The whole floating liquid feeling disappears from my body as I am being pushed into reality, or what I normally consider reality.

"I do?" I ask baffled.
I feel the connection slipping, but I can hold on to it and zoom out, "I was the tree wasn´t I?"
