Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.
This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.
Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 38
Gorgeous goons and goblins, of course, that's the idea 1+1 it's really that simple when you think around the corner.
I have to die, then she can continue.
Dust.
The images I couldn't see.
A world full of anger that I don't recognize.
A world bigger than the empire.
It's just the same trick as we did before when I was afraid of forgetting the images. Only now we have to repeat it over time and space, "Simple, right?" I shout loudly while I burst out laughing.
Sei doesn't see the joke, but that's probably because I haven't explained it yet. Although an explained joke is never that funny, I still try.
"I think I've completed a corner of the puzzle, believe it or not, but everything seems to fit. Do you remember that I couldn't see that world, that it was one big blur but that I did get a very clear picture of what was going on?"
Sei nods, her eyes are serious. "Of course, you were right that I wasn't allowed to see those images. Or maybe I couldn't see them because I'm not there yet, but I will be."
"You were right when you said that you couldn't go on until I'm dead. That doesn't mean that we can't go on now, but you can't go on until I'm no longer here, and show up there."
"Numico talked about me having turned to dust multiple times, I assume that's the transience of my body multiple times. Well, I thought at first, but then Sei is never on time. I'll tell you what with."
"But time doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is that I don't have to be here. It could even be possible because Magarida sent her second message when I was here, but if we want to be sure that the message reaches the right version of me, it's better if there's no me here anymore. Something tells me that my presence might disrupt it. Besides, your urge to reach me will be many times greater if I'm no longer here." "But where do you want to go?" Her voice sounds slightly shivering.
"I have no idea, but I will be there. I will be where that discontent, anger, and lack of connection is. I will not remember anything about us, about here, about what connection feels like. But I will have something that will make a difference. No idea what or how, but I might have it there."
"I have to be there, you have to remind me what life is like here. The balance, between us, the forces, nature, the unity we form, and the energy that comes from caring for the people around you."
"I will have to learn everything again, listening, how to enter someone's head, meditating, seeing beyond the boundary of the now. Everything that is normal for us I will have to learn again, and you have to kick my ass because I think I'm going to need it." Sei laughs, "With pleasure especially that last one. I don't understand how you figured it out but I do think you came to the right conclusion, not for a second did I doubt it while you were speaking."
"It does mean that we still have a lot of work to do because getting you in here is a piece of cake. But bringing you a message, across the boundaries of time and space, that's a whole pie."
"I think you're hungry," I say scornfully as I put my arm around her and we walk back home. It feels like too much rice wine, my legs are shaking again but not like this morning.
It's like I have too much of something in my body, I can't concentrate because I have to laugh all the time. Sei also has the giggles incessantly.
Over the past few years, we have received so many pieces, and although this is just the corner of something much bigger, we have cracked the code. Everything fits for a moment, it just makes sense and we feel it.
The truth might not resist as such, but for a moment it is as if we can touch the logic of life.
