Review and color strategy for learning letters.

Hi @homeedders friends, this week we have been going through the alphabet with Isabella and math with Diego. They really learn very fast and their processes are already more self-regulated. I am so amazed at how quickly everyone can choose how to do the activities, plus they themselves remind us that they have their study time at home. When @homeedders told me that I was going to be impressed with the way they were going to assume their study routines at home I didn't quite believe it, because well my children are very young and to think that they would have a learning routine at home was hard for me and my wife because it was a little difficult for us to assume the role of tutors.

But that's how well we are doing, Isabella has to take her letter test this week, so she needs to practice her letters because when we take her to school we can't stay with her while she takes her test. She likes the primers and the colors, so we decided to implement a strategy we read on the internet called review and color the letters. For this we used the children's calligraphy books and we drew on the lines with the dot technique the letters and the bottom part the big letter so that she could paint it when she finished going over the small ones.

With her we started with the pencil so she could go over the dotted letters but since they were in black we realized that she got bored and sometimes she didn't realize when she was missing a letter because we did the dots with black marker. So we decided to let her use the colors so that in addition to learning the shape of the letter she could have fun and be creative with the use of the colors.

This strategy was very significant Isabella managed to fix the letters, we are still, with others of the alphabet but the first ones already practiced she learned them and we continue on our path of being parents and teachers of our children, although it is not an easy job I can tell you that it is the best in the world because every time they reach an achievement we do it too.

The only detail was that she asked the teacher to be able to use colors and since the teacher said no, because calligraphy was done with pencil, she drew some stars in the corners of the paper. That's why they called our attention to us for allowing her to use colors instead of pencil, I really think it is not necessary to be so strict with children so young if in the end what was wanted was achieved and it was the learning of handwriting.

This is a very good strategy for children to learn the shape of letters. It doesn't seem to me that the teacher called them to attention because Isabella wanted to use colors, because the colors also allow her to memorize and fix the letters. That's why I insist that school kills creativity. Excellent input. Beautiful Isabella

I love the commitment and concentration during the exercise, this will really help in capacity building, the strategy is indeed a great one, it is result provoking. you can also make available the logbook for the kid to use colors and have the experiences that the kid needs, if you find that necessary. thanks for having me

That's disappointing that the teacher stopped her from using colours. Perhaps a different approach could be to do the letters she traces in colour, but have the pencil she uses as one the teacher will accept. This way you still have something attractive for her to work on at home, but she gets used to using the instruments the teachers expect of her. It would be something of a compromise, as I'm guessing you can't permanently homeschool.

On the positive side what could also be useful with using colours for the dot letters is that you can use lighter colours as she gets more confident, allowing her own writing to show more.

yeah, i quiet agree with you, there is need for the fun while learning to facilitate understanding

Dear @tomaspalomo, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community. However, it lost its funding few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really helpful and you could make the difference! Thank you!
