New Year celebration with Palm trees and snow.

in #hive3 years ago

This year it was probably my first time ever greeting New Year abroad, although I had a dream to spend the Christmas holiday surrounded by palm trees for quite a while.

However, it was nothing like I've imagined. So I went to Spain in anticipation of catching some sun and eating some nice food. I had no idea, how Spain is in winter, so naturally, I got cold, as the temperature is around 3 degrees celsius at the start of the day also since I arrived it has been raining for three days straight, what a start to the holiday huh?

But everything has changed once it stopped raining, during the peak of the day temperature started to climb towards that round 20-degree mark. And people were enjoying it, you could see all the outside terraces filled to the brim by people desperately trying to catch those precious winter sun rays has been mind-blowing that people in December are wearing shorts and t-shirts while going on their after-work jogs or walks.

But the crazy does not end there, not more than 30 minutes drive away we went to the place called Bola del Mundo which translates to Ball of the word!? it is one of the most bikeable Mountain tops around Madrid so as we start our climb in the morning was somewhere around 6 degrees and as we were approaching the top it has been all covered in snow, Spain you will be missed.
