Thank you for mentioning the new Hive Diabetes Peer Support (HDPS) Community in this edition of Hive Today. We have been thrilled with the response that we have seen during our official Launch Party for the new Community. Although the party is almost over and the real work is about to begin for us, we expect there to be plenty of opportunities to celebrate and enjoy the more social aspects of being on a social blockchain.

Speaking of which, we are excited by the prospect of the upcoming HiveBloPoMo in November this year. For those who don't know, the USA celebrates their National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM) during November each year. Also, every 14th November is the World Diabetes Day, which is one of the official United Nations Days. This date was chosen specifically because it marks the birthday of Dr. Frederick Banting, who was one of the co-discoverers of insulin analogs, over 100 years ago. These drugs assist diabetics with glycemic control when the naturally occurring insulin in their bodies, which is normally produced by the pancreas, is either insufficient, or even non-existent! We hope to have a HiveBloPoMo event running this November, with a strong Diabetes Awareness theme, to coincide with the events being coordinated by @traciyork.

Your post has been curated by @frittro of the Hive Diabetes Peer Support (HDPS) Community. We are a new HIVE Community and curation account created recently, and officially launched on 1-Apr-2022, here on the social blockchain and on Discord. Our goal is to become a place to discuss your own or a loved one's experience of diabetes, for shared mutual peer support and encouragement.
