ARE THERE ANY POSITIVES FOR HIVE AS A BLOCKCHAIN

Although I have mentally checked out of the Hive ecosystem, a huge part of me still want to see the blockchain thrive. If not for anything but the time put into this project. It has been half a decade of actively participating in the growth of this blockchain. This was supposed to be my stepping towards being a full-time content creator. This blockchain was supposed to onboard millions, enabling creators to leverage their social capital and network. I do not think it is going to achieve all these things in the foreseeable future.

I find solace in the fact that I have written about Hives current predicament. It is one of the hardest things to do because most people rather conform to general notion that the blockchain is thriving, when in fact it has been dying slowly for years. We honestly had the chance to turn things around after the Steem breakaway. This community, or what seems to remain of it, did the impossible, so it is a shame to see it go this way. It is almost the end of the second quarter and there hasn't been any meaningful news/development from the Hive ecosystem. The project I thought would give Hive some leverage is currently failing woefully.

The painful thing for is that I do not see any collective effort to change Hives downward trajectory, and I am not talking about about price. It is my believe that most people have checked out mentally as well and are waiting for the inevitable. The sad part is that nothing can be done to avert the situation. The blockchain is too old with a lot of baggage. It will take some expensive PR to revive the chain. In addition, the general crypto space isn't any better, so it is hard finding the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hive and its stakeholders refused to develop with the entire web3 space and they are paying for it. Leaving this space to explore other blockchains was a rude awakening for me, and it hurts because I am playing catch up to people I should be way ahead of in this space. But I am eating that humble pie and learning from my mistakes. I hope the Hive community can do the same because that is its only chance of getting out of this rot.

Hive blockchain is amazing. It is truly a blockchain for the masses. When discussions like this come up people are quick to point out the obvious. Hive (the blockchain) is fundamentally exceptional. Unfortunately, its ecosystem and community is in ruins. It needs a mass onboarding campaign that works and more collaborations. It needs to do DeFI better; it needs to do SocialFi better. The Blockchain needs to try new things as well to attract new users and investors. That can only happen with creating more Dapps and exploring new usecases.

Currently, there is no real benefit to develop Dapps or create content on Hive. For Developers/Founders, the number of active users are insignificant so it is not profitable. I stand to be corrected but there are no Hive Dapps that can boast of 5000 active and unique users. the creators economy is not lucrative enough to attract some of the best creators. So what you are left with is a mediocre chain living off its past glory and rhetorics.

In conclusion, I do not think much will change with Hive and I have made my peace with it. I am going to ride to the very end (if it comes to that) but I hope it never comes to that conclusion. There is no one we can hold accountable because this is a decentralized blockchain. There are a lot of lessons to learn from this social experiment.

Who would have thought that centrally controlling who was allowed 'rewards' would be such a turn off to crypto people in general?
Don't people love being dictated to by rich people that came by their fortunes in such a fortunate way?
I'm shocked.

My thinking about Hive has evolved over time as well. I think of it now more as a utility that powers my blog and allows me to communicate with friends. For me, I simply do not have the time to read through very many blog posts for curation. And my posts don't earn enough to support me and my family. Just for comparison, I need roughly $120 daily to remain broke. I can't earn that here.

Instead, I follow a few people like you and mostly post for my own entertainment. I don't think that Hive is dying, necessarily. It's more like it's not a major part of our daily lives.

The Leo stuff is cool. But it's still too small to be useful for whales. $100,000 in liquidity is tiny for people with real money. In time, perhaps this will change. Untill then, this 'blogging business' is a game I play for entertainment to score HIVE points.

If my circumstances were different, perhaps I could afford to be more serious about it.

When I think about hive in its generality, I consider development(dapps) social experience and profitability All these markers has been on the decline since 2020.These are signs of a dying blockchain. Yes, I agree it has evolved and so has my usage but on a border spectrum one cannot help but wonder if it will survive another cycle.

If it doesn't, I'll go back to a blogger account. At least there I can earn ad revenue.
